U are still in Gold bc you practice freestyle mechanics to much. I also practiced ceiling shot when I was gold. I could do it first try in practice mode but i only did it in game 1 or 2 times throughout gold. Please practice dribbles(on the ground), basic powershots and aerials and you will rank up 10x faster than if u just practice freestyle mechanics.

Honestly yeah you should focus on fundamentals. One of my friends started out plat freestyling, I can from gold and ranked up to diamond much faster than him and he was just freestyling. Work on rotations, accuracy, basic aerials, once you get to plat, maybe learn speedlip and wave dash
