I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just money that led to trading being removed. Because of Fortnite’s new Rocket Racing mode, epic added everyone’s RL items in Fortnite. So I’m pretty sure epic removed trading so people couldn’t work around Fortnite not allowing trading. It’s dumb.
They care about the Fortnite community but not the rocket league community. Because you ask them to change something in Fortnite they will.
