In freestyling, mustys are done as carefully and as controlled as possible, as it's much much harder to do a slow musty that barely launches the ball. I don't know what you are referencing in clips, but it might be that their just freestylers.

It's just that lots of clips I see are people trying to musty flick but they simply don't scoop the ball but just tap it instead, and those taps make up the majority of attempts I see
