I know it sounds far fetched, but I always hoped they would add an Auction House or something similar to WOW or eBay, where people could list their items in-game and people could either bid on the item or just purchase the item directly at the buyout price. Since the devs always felt like they were missing out on profits from trades, they could take a small cut from each purchase (like a 5% listing fee payable by the seller). The benefits would be threefold: (1) we could keep the ability for players to transfer items to one another for a fee. (2) Safety would be increased by keeping the trade system entirely in-game without having to rely on third party websites and servers. (3) the system would be easy for everyone to use since it is built into the system. No need to message or friend random people, only to find out they sold the item hours ago. The auction house would take care of all the transactions and would immediately remove items that are sold.
