Sponsorships and Line-Up Changes
Quite a lot has happened in the world of competitive Rocket League recently, with people going as far as to call it their 'favourite soap opera' on Twitter, so it must be exciting. Here's what's been going on.
SK GamingYou probably already know about this one, but SK Gaming acquired Complain late last week. This is undeniably a huge move for Yemen, X3MW, Dadooh and JHZER, but also Rocket League as a whole. SK Gaming are a very large organisation with top teams in many different games, and are one of the highest profile groups to get involved with Rocket League so far.
UntetheredLachinio, Pluto and Vafele decided to end their association with Vanquish Gaming last Friday, and since they've lined up a move to Nexus eSports, which was finalised today. At face value it seems something of a side-step from Vanquish at best, but we're sure they have their reasons. We've not seen Untethered play consistently with their main three for quite some time now, so if this move does anything to help them play more frequently, we'll be happy to see it.
Swarm GamingSadly we're hearing that Swarm are have disbanded. Allegedly there was a dispute between Paschy and Gambit, resulting in Paschy leaving the team late on Tuesday. We've not had any 'official' confirmation from the players, but de Boer has removed the Swarm branding from his Twitter account, Paschy supposedly mentioned it on stream, and it hasn't been disputed by de Boer or Gambit as far as we can see. We'll keep you posted if we hear anything.
UPDATE: Paschy talked to us directly, and says that there was no dispute. He wanted to work with Sikicem and Godlight due to them being good friends, and in the hope that they'll have a good chemistry together.
Peace HatersIt looks like Swarm's loss may be Peace Haters' gain, as Paschy announced yesterday that he would be joining up with them. Given that they already have three great players in KillerNo7, Godlight and Sikiicem, we don't know what this will do to their line-up. It would be hard to overlook a player of Paschy's quality when picking the team. Paschy and Sikiicem have history with Sikiicem being a former member of Swarm gaming, so there could be some instant chemistry there. They are currently #6 in the EU power rankings, so we should see the team they field in the Rocket Royale qualifiers on Saturday if not before.
