Rocket League Sideswipe Season 2 is finally upon us. Psyonix has just released an update to the game, which brings some cool new items to the Item Shop & Rocket Pass, a new Volleyball game mode, Casual playlists, and Season 1 rewards. The new season is already live and playable, so grab your phone and start grinding.

New items are making its way to the Item Shop and Rocket Pass in Season 2. Or to be exact: they are new to Sideswipe, but have existed in Rocket League for a while. These items will be unlockable with SP when they're in the Item Shop, or by playing the game and grinding XP to unlock levels in the Rocket Pass. We'll be seeing popular items such as Breakout and Dueling Dragons become available in the game.

A Rocket League game mode that has been rumored for years is finally here — but only for Sideswipe (for now). Volleyball mode brings exciting new gameplay to the field, as you'll not be scoring goals anymore. Rather, you'll be fighting to keep the ball in the air for as long as possible. Expect to master your aerial skills if you want to become good at this game mode.

This new game mode is replacing Hoops, which was the Extra Mode in Season 1. Psyonix has revealed that Extra Modes will rotate with each new Season of Sideswipe, so if you want to experience Volleyball mode, now's your chance.

Prior to Season 2, your only option to play was ranked matches or locally in the training modes. Now, Psyonix has brought casual playlists to the game, so you can play with any of your friends, regardless of their skill level. And if you don't have friends (sigh), then casual games are still a great way to play Sideswipe, without risking your rank.

With casual game modes, there's a little bit less pressure on the players to perform, which some may find a more enjoyable experience.

As with any season of Rocket League, there are season rewards for those who participated in ranked play and earned a rank during the season.

For Season 1, new player titles and quick chat stickers are given to players depending on their highest rank during the season.

It's fair to say that Season 1 of Sideswipe has been a success, and exciting times are ahead for the game. We'll be keeping a close eye on Season 2 and future seasons to see where they take us.
