Rocket League on XBOX One

10 years ago by QuestFerret in Rocket League News

At a very productive Game Awards ceremony last night, Psyonix announced that Rocket League would finally be coming to XBOX One!

Prior to the event, The Game Awards announced that they would have at least ten exclusive world premieres, one of which would be related to Rocket League. What could it be? More DLC? An event? An XBOX One announcement that we were seeing rumours of a couple of days ago?

Having picked up two of the three awards Rocket League was nominated for (Best Independent Game and Best Sports/Racing Game), it was time for Psyonix's big reveal. As it happens, it was actually a confirmation that Rocket League will be coming to XBOX One, shown with this trailer.

The details are still a little vague, but from the trailer we know that Rocket League should arrive on XBOX One in February 2016 and will come with two exclusive cars. From Halo there will be the Hogsticker, and from Gears of War there will be the Armadillo.

Until recently an XBOX One release seemed unlikely in the near future, but now we know it was in the works all along. What are your thoughts on it? We'd have liked news on the Mac and Linux builds at the same time, but it's undeniable that this will be huge for the Rocket League player base. The more people who can play it, the better.

Lack of cross play is nonsense. When will PC get some exclusive cars?

An interesting point to mention is that Xbox players won't be able to crossplay with PS4 & PC players
