Thanks to Psyonix's hints we assumed that March 2nd would be a big day for Rocket League, but today we got news that far exceeded our expectations - Psyonix are partnering with Twitch and making their first big step into eSports!

Starting March 25th, anybody on PC or PS4 will be able to sign up for an open qualifier tournament that will see the beginning of the 'Rocket League Championship Series.' The first season of the RLCS will span over three months, and it will be open to any team that wants to take a shot at the biggest prize pool Rocket League has seen so far.

Each season will consist of two qualification progressions, beginning with a 3v3 open qualifier tournament that any PC or PS4 players can enter. This will span across a period of a week, and will allow a thus far unknown number of teams to qualify for a two week long group stage. This will in turn lead to an online finals, where teams will battle it out for a $10,000 prize pool.

After two of these and a short break, the top four teams from each region will be invited to participate in a LIVE International Final, where they'll compete for an incredible $55,000 prize, bringing the total prize pool for season one to a whopping $75,000.

There's not a vast amount of information out there at the moment, but the information that is there is getting us incredibly excited about the future of the RL scene. $75,000 is a huge amount of money, and the prospect of a live event with the very best teams is some of the best news we've heard in a long time.

Rocket League has come a long way in the past 8 months, and this will hopefully prove to be the first step in a brand new chapter for the game.
