Rocket League: A look at the Cars

9 years ago by FrostbiteRL in Esports

Rocket League is a game about soccer. Car soccer. So you need cars. To play Car. Soccer. As in soccer, with a car. This is a look at the four most popular cars in the game. A simple look nonetheless.

The Octane.

The Octane is the face of Rocket League in a sense. it is the only car to be popular since the start, except perhaps your Merc Jamesbot. The Octane is a stable boxy car with solid dribbling and is the most popular car in Europe. If you watched the RLCS LAN, you saw Europeans. If you saw Europeans, you saw the Octane. The first goal of the event was scored by gReazy and his Octane. The Octane is a stable quick car that will always suit you well and odds on if you see someone using it, they've used it for a long time.

The Batmobile.

"WELL I USED IT BEFORE IT WAS COOL" A Call oft heard when the Batmobile is brought up. 0ver_zer0 used the Batmobile in his RLCS winning performance. The flattest car in the game, the Batmobile can flip and fly like near no other and is one of the best for flicking the ball high to the sky. Whether you've used it since release or were brought on by the pitiful wailing of it's boost, the Batmobile will serve you well and is slowly becoming part of a new meta.

The Marauder.

The Marauder is the Octane, but slightly bigger and slightly harder to turn. Used by Markydooda and SadJunior, the Marauder could be the new blood looking to usurp the Octane. It has been called the bigger better Octane by some, but purists will still prefer the look of the little RC car. Whether the Marauder can bully it's way into common usage remains to be seen but it could be fun to see the humvee maraud into the pro scene.

The Breakout.

Some people like door stops. Quite a bit. Apparently Psyonix listened to those people as you can drive a painted door stop in game. The Breakout repalced the Dominus when the hitbox was altered. It is the intermediate flat car, not quite the pancake of the Batmobile but not quite the box of the Dominus either. All jokes aside, the Breakout is commonly used by pros such as Kronovi and can be seen as one of the best cars in the game depening on who you ask.

That was a simple review of the four most popular cars in Rocket League. Whatever you choose is up to you almost any car can be viable and you won't really notice the change. Unless it's a door stop. then you can hold the door all you like, and that's a change.

I personally love the octane. Amazing car since I changed from the breakout to the octane. I feel like aerials aren't a problem for me anymore. I have seen the Type S get a major popularity rate however, is It pretty much the same as the normal breakout itself? Please answer, because I'm struggling to know the difference and if it's worth!

I have noticed a change. I think Over Zero's performance helped boost the popularity of a car I hardly ever saw in online matches

Has anyone noticed a popularity increase for the Batmobile since the LAN? I haven't really personally, but wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference
