Today marks our 6th anniversary and we have some big updates to celebrate it. A full app change log is attached to the end of this article. For a more detailed explanation of some of the most important updates to the app, and changes to the website, keep reading.

New logo

For the first time ever, RL Garage now has a new face. Our new logo is a fresh take on our old logo, with Fennec replacing the Octane. It has a new purple & dark blue color scheme that we have also applied throughout the app and website.

We have a Siiick! new start-up loading animation in the app. And we have a new video intro for our YouTube videos. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Chat rewrite

This one excites us a lot! It’s no secret that the chat system has had its fair share of issues. Some of these issues may have affected you :(

Today, we are rolling out a complete rewrite of the chat system. This new system is built with an entirely new infrastructure which should make things function much more reliably.

Additionally, you can now view your chatting partner’s online status, so you know whether they’re active or not.

We have also streamlined the platform sharing process by allowing you to share linked platforms directly in the chat window. This change was made in an effort to reduce the number of successful phishing attacks carried out by scammers. A positive side effect of this change, is that it's now much faster and convenient to share your linked platforms.

And to top it all off, app push notifications are now much more reliable, so you won’t miss another message.

Responsive design (website)

Admittedly, this took us way too long, but our website is now responsive and looks and feels great on any device. No matter if you use the RL Garage website on your PC or smartphone, the design will adjust accordingly.

Item paint quick-select menu (website)

Adding a painted item to a trade has now been reduced to 1 click. Simply hover over the desired item in the trade editor and select a paint in the popup menu.

The old way of selecting paints still works, should you prefer it.

New trade editor (app)

The trade editor in the app has been restructured to allow for faster item selection. When selecting a trade item, you will now be prompted immediately for item details, saving you a few taps. You can also stay on the same item search screen to add up to 10 items at once. Want to add 5 different variants of Zomba wheels to your trade? No problem with the new trade editor!

Recent and popular items are now displayed alongside the various item categories.

Item shop, giveaway & article notifications (website & app)

All of you know that we update the RL Item Shop in our app and website every day. A popular request was to send everyone a push notification once the new shop is available. We now offer push notifications on new item shops, but not only that: You'll also get a push notification when we start a new giveaway and when a new article is up on RL Garage!

If you don't wish to get these types of notifications you can turn them off in your notification account settings.

New trade filter options (website & app)

The trade filter is an important tool to find the trades you're looking for. After we added credit limiting, series and quality search we now added a few new shiny options:

Search for all items of a category (like all wheels or all black markets) Search for all items of a series Search for all items with a custom quality Search for all items limited by credits. Got 1000 credits but don't know what to get? No problem with the new filter! Search for traders who overpay
Trade item operators (website & app)

Ever wanted to let people know that you're overpaying? Want to offer different options of sets? Or just want to use a placeholder (hello Traffic Cone!) in your trades? You can now use a placeholder, "OR" and an overpay item in your trades to structure them in a better way.

Trade bookmarking (app)

Trade bookmarking has always been a handy feature on our website to keep track of interesting trades. This is now available on our mobile app as well. Just tap the bookmark icon on any trade and then find it again later in the Bookmarks menu on your profile.

Item shop voting (app)

Item shop voting has always been a handy feature on our website to let everyone know how you like the daily selection of the item shop. This is now available on our mobile app as well. Upvote an item you like, downvote if you don't think it's worth to get.

Optimized for tablets (app)

This update marks our first tablet release. You will no longer be presented with a scaled up phone app on your tablet. Instead, the app is now properly optimized for the larger screens on tablets. This is still in the early stages of development, so expect a few snags and UI glitches. Future updates will address them!

Scroll up and down again (app)

On long trade lists or message lists it sometimes happens that you want to scroll up to the start of the list again. You can now tap the currently active tab bar icon to scroll up in the app. Accidentally scrolled up or just want to go back to where you were? No problem, just tap the icon again to scroll to your former position again!

Giveaway

If things go as planned, and the update is stable and working smoothly, we will be hosting a celebratory Titanium White Fennec giveaway later in the day. Should a few hiccups occur (which is a real possibility), then we will have to postpone the giveaway to a later date. If you are subscribed to giveaway push notifications, or you follow us on Twitter, you will receive updates on when the giveaway starts.
