2s/general tips
rotations/first-last man
rotation isnt a formula you need to strictly follow. it needs to be adapted for different situations. the main idea of rotation is to ensure offense and defense are covered. the most important thing here is spacing. you want to keep a good amount of distance between you and your tm8 so that you can follow up shots and help out on offense, but not so much distance that youre left in a 1v2 sitting in net. as first man, your job should be to either score, or put the ball in a good position for your tm8 to follow up. dont put the ball in a bad place for your tm8 or make them awkward then get mad if they cant defend or score. its a complicated concept, i recommend watching pro/ssl 2v2s for reference.
mechanics
for a long time i said you dont need mechs to rank up. ive revised that idea a little bit. since mechanics cover most car movements, things like aerials, halfflips, and speedflips count as mechanics. my ideology now is that no you dont really need mechs to rank up, but mechs without gamesense is nothing. if you can airdribble but not do it in an actual game, its worthless. ball control is essential for ranking up, and mechanics can help you with that. i know plenty of gcs that cant flip reset well, and theyre doing fine. if used correctly, mechanics can be powerful tools.
tm8s/mentality
gonna keep this brief. tm8s, no matter how awkward they can be, are not the reason you arent ranking up. thats a skill issue and a you problem. people focus too much on their tm8s mistakes and overlook their own. major or minor, mistakes from both players lead to goals, and you lose games. yes i get feeling upset in the moment. i get that way too when i feel like i was robbed of my mmr. however, this mentality makes the game less enjoyable. it makes you on edge and tilt easily. my advice is to use replays to review your errors and correct them. on the idea of "deserving a higher rank," its stupid. you are the rank you are for a reason. its a coping mechanism to essentially say i am a higher rank without putting the work in. well, sorry to say, bad tm8s and bad games are part of the job. if youre not willing to go through that then maybe this game isnt for you. stick with it and actively improve, not just passively grinding for hours on end expecting results.
ways to improve
first, lay off the bad mentalities. those are the real barriers from you ranking up. second, like i said previously, watch your replays. they can show you a lot about your gameplay. save your bad games too, not just your good ones. think of it like a science experiment- you review what went wrong to improve the process in the future. lastly, consistency is important, both on offense and defense. training packs are very useful for this.
ill prolly put out a pt. 2 at some point, we'll see. like i said b4, im happy to do a replay analysis over discord if anyone wants one. js msg me with ur user and ill try to look at it w/you over the weekend. gl in everyone's matches
