Air roll

When trying to air dribble why does everyone(good people) always air roll?(outside of when you actually have to.) Is it for style points or does it have a purpose. Because every time I try to, I find it very hard to direct my car so I'm a little stumped Someone pls explain

for me it helps to have control of my car by air rolling and i can make fine adjustments to my shot before i have contact with the ball

@GmFunk That's what I do and I can are dribble just fine. it might not look as good but it still works! If you really want to learn air roll, id watch either Thanivic's video, or SpookyLuke's video about how to air roll
