My Thoughts on RL as a returning GC After a 3 Year Break

Hello everyone, welcome to my first thread. Tonight I’m going to dive into my thoughts on Rocket League and returning to the game after taking a 3 year break from the games and games in general.

After initially downloading the game again (I’m a PS5 player) I immediately hopped into a casual game to test the new boost feature they added and saw that a new US central server was open. I was surprisingly pleased about this update as I didn’t expect anything new to the game. The boost counter for teammates came in handy on my decision making playing with randoms and not using mic and I really quite enjoyed playing with this feature. Unfortunately the US central servers are absolutely dead for any comp playlists for my rank, and I can’t tell if there’s few players in my rank or the game is not as popular as it once was. I should note all my ranks had depreciated over the past few years from high champ/GC to champ 1 or diamond.

Recovering ranks I’ve noticed have been the most difficult. Ranks depreciate when you miss whole seasons rapidly and the MMR gained is nowhere near enough per match for me to warrant taking seriously anymore playing multiple seasons full of win streaks with the games current state and player population.

Trading, a core feature of the game has been removed because of fortnite with an unpopular racing mode that doesn’t justify the change, and the game seems utterly abandoned other than an automated item shop change daily. Drop shot even is no longer in the playlist and that was one of my favorite modes for practice before queuing 2s! I’m not sure where epic is going with RL besides slowly killing it off with plans to merge fully into fortnite unreal 5 as a side mode such as their poor rock band attempt.

I’m not really sure where I’m going with this thread, all I know is that when I left there was a full game and when I returned there was a lot less of it. We really need to group up together as a community if we want to take this game back for the players vs epic. Might I propose a blackout rocket league day where we just all not log in for a whole weekend and play something else to really get epics attention with the frustration? I don’t know guys, for now I’m just going to keep playing for fun and not take the ranking so serious.
