The RLCS Returns!

8 years ago by QuestFerret in Esports

It's just two short weeks since the first season of the Rocket League Championship Series culminated in the biggest LAN event Rocket League has seen to date, but already the team at Twitch and Psyonix have detailed the plans for how they'll make season two bigger and better.

The biggest news this time around is that the prize pool for the season will be more than three times that of season one. $250,000 will be on offer across the three month season, with $125,000 of that going to teams in the live Grand Finals, $50,000 of which will go to the team that wins it all.

This time around the splits will be dropped in favour of a single qualification process which will commence on September 10th with an open qualifier. The top eight teams in each region will qualify for their region's group stage, which will now span four weeks with every match of the season broadcast over on twitch.tv/rocketleague.

The league play will conclude on October 23rd, where the top six teams will then fight it out over two weekends to determine who will gain one of the coveted spots in the second live RLCS Finals.

All in all, the plans for RLCS Season Two look like a big step up from Season One. There's more on the line and it's condensed in a more streamlined package. Teams will only get one shot at qualifying though, so they'll need to bring their A game next month to ensure that they don't fall at the first hurdle.
