Team Changes & Partnerships
It's been quite a busy week for a lot of competitive teams and their players, so let's take a look back on the goings on.
Cosmic Aftershock
This one has only just been announced - Cosmic Aftershock have (finally) found a sponsor! They're now partnered with iBUYPOWER, a large North American eSports organisation with top teams for many different games. They'll be participating in tournaments as iBUYPOWER Cosmic from this point onwards. For more on that, click here.
Team Shazoo
As of Tuesday, Team Shazoo were acquired by Noble eSports, and as such will now be competing under the Noble eSports brand in the future.
Apollo 11
Apollo 11 are another team that have been acquired by a sponsor this week, and they'll now be competing as SnK eSports in forthcoming competitions.
Galaxy Gaming
It's not quite as high profile a signing, but long-time community member Wrong_Way_Woody has joined by Galaxy Gaming eSports along with Jonobi and TriangleAwesome. They'll now be competing as Galaxy Gaming.
Player Switches
The biggest news this week has been a couple of roster changes on Monday 26th. Gambit, formerly of Kings of Urban, left to join SWARM, which in turn led to Stocki1997 being let go. This has been an interesting move for several reasons, but primarily the fact that Gambit is an NA based player who will now be playing for an EU team. We haven't seen this yet at the top level of the game, and it will be fascinating to see how it plays out.
Stocki1997 wasn't without a team for long. Within hours of the announcement he was taken on by Team Shazoo (now Noble eSports) in what seems to be a fantastic move for both the team and the player. The question remains as to what Noble's first team line-up will look like, or if they'll have one at all. They're playing with Meeps, Skyline and Stocki in today's Gfinity tournament, but we'll have to wait and see if they decide on a regular team or rotate.
As far as we know Kings of Urban are still in need of a third player after these moves. We heard last night that they won't be participating in the Rocket Royale qualifiers tomorrow, presumably due to not having enough players to compete. We hope that they'll find a good replacement for Gambit soon and get back to the high level that they've been playing at for the last few months.
In the last few hours, we've also been informed of changes to the line up of Torched eSports. Karma and Papadu have left to create a new team called Tidal, but Unicorn and AlphaMan remain. They are searching for a permanent third member now.
NOTE: Within minutes we've been informed by Noble that their first team line-up is likely to consist of Vogan, Stocki and Oneill.
