Shalthis Says: The Top 10 Players in Rocket League

7 years ago by Shalthis in Esports

I’ve been asked this a lot and my answer has always been the same: I am too close to the business and know them all too well to do something like this. But, after a year removed from it all, I figured now was a good time as any. Here are my Top 10 Rocket League Players.

My criteria is simple. I look at good team players who are good overall at the game and I’m going with active pros. You may disagree with this list and I want to know your top 10 in the comments. Yes, I still know many of the pros I’m going to talk about. Yes, most of them are from Europe because I feel it’s the strongest region.

10. MAESTRO
Current Team: Northern Gaming

Starting off with Maestro was hard since after #6, it’s like one big mess as far as who I think is the best, since I like so many players that aren’t on this list. Maestro, however, is a valuable asset to any team he is part of.

9. KAYDOP
Current Team: Mock-It Esports

Any team would be lucky to have Kaydop. As the European MVP of Season 3 of the RLCS, he’s one of the most valuable players that Mock-It has. On either side of the ball, Kaydop is a star.

8. GREAZYMEISTER
Current Team: FlipSid3 Tactics

Since taking the place of M1k3rules on FlipSid3 Tactics, gReazy has fit in well and been a valuable 3rd on one of the most feared teams in Rocket League. gReazy is a great threat on the offensive side of the ball and he’s a solid playmaker for his team, which you have to be on a squad with Kuxir and Markydooda.

7. SNASKI
Current Team: The Leftovers

The fact that a player like Snaski wasn’t picked up before RLCS Season 3 shows how talented the European player pool is. Despite being snazzy, he is one of the most talented players, whether it’s on Supersonic Avengers or The Leftovers, you want Snaski on your team. The fact that he made a team that was basically thrown together and has been very successful, too.

6. GARRETTG
Current Team: NRG

Fact is, NRG is the North American version of FlipSid3 Tactics. Much of that is due to GarrettG of that team. Though he isn’t quite the focused role player that his teammates Jacob and Fireburner are, he’s good at his overall skill and is right where his teammates need him to be. GarrettG is very skilled on his team and a key part of what makes NRG work and why they are so successful.

5. JACOB
Current Team: NRG

Playing for what may be the best team in North America, Jacob has always been a contender, previously part of Kings of Urban, Jacob has always been a part of winning teams. Not only was Jacob part of every team that won the NA qualifier, but he was also the NA MVP and Clutch Playmaker for RLCS S3. NRG is also part of the only team in North America that Markydooda of FlipSid3 Tactics feels stands the strongest chance of defeating them at RLCS Season 3. Jacob is a very talented player and surrounded by GarrettG and Fireburner is their strongest chance to do just that.

4. PASCHY90
Current Team: n/a

Builder of some of the best teams in Rocket League, Paschy is one of the most the most talented players in the game. When it comes to his 1v1 game, he is arguably the best. His ball-handling and decision-making is stellar.

3. KRONOVI
Current Team: G2 Esports

Rating Kronovi was difficult but he is one of the best players Rocket League has ever seen and easily the best player in North America. Offensively, he’s like a machine in how he produces goals and he knows when to pass when the time is right. On the field, he is smart and communicates his decisions well.

2. KUXIR97
Current Team: FlipSid3 Tactics

Rating Kuxir and Kronovi was difficult. The reason I rated Kuxir higher is because I genuinely feel he is a better player. His ability to pick shots off the wall is second-to-none and he is a defensive threat, too. Also, he is on one of the best teams in the world, which helps a ton. While he doesn’t seem to talk much, he works really well with his teammates.

1. MARKYDOODA
Current Team: FlipSid3 Tactics

I rank Marky as my top player because I still feel he’s the best out there. Overall, I think he brings something to his team that no other player brings. There may be better scorers or defenders or aerial artists, but no one is as overall appealing for a team as Markydooda. He is a huge contributor for FlipSid3 and a critical part of his team and the scene as a whole.

Dappur should easily be in this list. Kronovi needs to stop being hyped up, he had his time.

To people discrediting this list because they don't see someone one the list or don't agree with positioning: this is opinionated. If all of you got your way, this would be a top 500 list (and in tandem with that point, this isn't *your* list). Instead of bashing on this, why not publish your own list trying to single out 10 of the greatest rocket league players and get backlash of your own. Best of luck, you're going to need plenty of it.

You're taking the piss when you put one of the best players in the world at 9th. Also, this is not 2015 where Kronovi can be in top 3. Marky didn't do anything that warrens the 1st spot. One of the worst list ever.
