9 years ago by HoxianYob in Esports
Some Neutrals were worried that the potential of this Fixture would lose its spark due to the absence of Maestro. But Turbopolsa is playing just fine, proved Yesterday in a sweep against JAM Gaming, as they step up to one of their biggest challenges of the LAN, an Upper Bracket match vs NA's finest Team, NRG. The lineups

NRG: Jacob

NRG: FireBurner

NRG: GarrettG

NG: Turbopolsa

NG: Remkoe

NG: Deevo

Game 1

The power of the home crowd is sure to help NRG here and they may need it due to a poor record against EU teams at the LAN. Turbo plays it to the middle but Jacob can get a touch to clear it away. Turbo contests Fire to make the ball drop in the Blue half, but a looping shot from Remkoe sees Jacob desperatley dodge across the goal line. Jacob plays it up to Garrett who's shot goes to the left of the target. Jacob going for a touch to fake out Remkoe but hes wise to hit and saves it away. FireBurner takes an angled shot but Deevo in the corner of the goal can save it away. Despite the workload on defense, both teams seem comfortable on defense. Turbo with a flick into the middle off the back and Deevo gets a really close touch right into the the corner of the goal and in the last minute, the lead goes to NG. Jacob to Fire but he can't do anything with it, but this time he links with Garrett at the other side of the goal to follow through and Equalize with less than 30 seconds to go. A late shot drops and we go to Overtime. NRG win the kickoff and take possession early on. Deevo and Turbo exchanging passes but the final shot just goes to the right hand side of the goal. A triple commit on a ball leaves everyone out of position but Garrett follows up to rid of the danger. Turbo takes a shot, blocked by Garrett. Jacob's attempt to drop it down is just to the left hand side of the goal again and almost 2 minutes in without a winning goal. Turbo with a clear but Fire passes to Jacob who gets a wall shot to take Game 1 from the EU side.

Game 2

Eventually we get to Game 2 on Mannfield. Garrett can't quite connect with his flick and its an easy clear for Remkoe. Turbo plays it to the middle off the back wall again but remkoe is beaten to it by the speedy defense of NRG. A shot from Jacob finds the far side of the goal and the advantage goes to the Home team after the first minute. A scare on the NG goal but relentless pressure from the blue team. Garrett pinches it down to his teammates but Jacob can't create anything with the possession. Jacob's shot hits the right post to fall away from the NRG hands. Jacob's long shot is very fast but remkoe is quick to react and send it to the side. Jacob transitions from a brief stint on defense to offense but a shot from NG is saved at last gasp. Less than 60 seconds to go. Remkoe takes possession but his clear is blocked by Fire. Moments later his shot hits the post, and the ball drops for a match point NRG. You can hardly hear FinableCarpet due to the hype of the crowd!

Game 3

Demo from Jacob means that Turbo is isolated in the goal and GarrettG rotates in to get the opening goal, 21 seconds in. A pass from Remkoe is easily blocked away. Remkoe goes for Jacob in the goal and leaves Turbopolsa to take a relaxed shot from close range to equalize the scores. You hear groans from around the Wiltern. Fire plays it down to Jacob which then finds Garrett, but the NG defense is alert to snuff out the attacks. GarrettG goes up and can double tap off the back wall and drop it into the goal. 2-1 NRG with half the game to go. Fire lofts it high but Turbo can get a touch to clear it away temporarily. NG stuck on defense once more. Fire with a looping shot is saved by Deevo between the goal frames and he flicks it up to safety. Some demo's on the NRG defense to try and continue the EU team's upper bracket run and with 10 seconds to go, can they sweep NG? The ball drops and NRG take the EU 4 seed!

  Summary

In a very calm series, NRG take their first win against an EU team at the LAN. We now have the NA 1 and 2 Seeds in the Upper Semi's as well as the EU 1 and 2 seeds.
