RLC Pro League Week 1 Recap

Crown & Jewels vs Supersonic Avengers

This match seems really lopsided if you just look at results, but the first 3 games were far closer than they let on. The results are what matters ultimately and this dominating win puts C&J easily atop the rankings, all 3 players doing serious work. Game one ended in OT and then game 2 was pushed into OT with one of the best 0 second goals we've seen in pro play. C&J rode the momentum against a hard fighting SA to take the series 5-0.

FlipSid3 Tactics vs Spectral

This wins my "upset" of the day. F3, easily considered the #1 team in EU for quite some time now and only displaced from the power rankings into 2nd once, was expected by most to 4-1 or 5-0 Spectral. With an over result favoring F3 3-2, neither team winning a game by more than 1 point and the overall goal differential favoring F3 by only 1 made these games the closest scoring all day. A very impressive showing by Spectral, with my favorite new tactic of forcing a game on wasteland to throw off their opponents. F3 of course did win and placed into 2nd on the standings by goal differential.

myXMG vs SK Gaming

Another very close series ended the EU part of the day with SK pulling out a 3-2 win against myXMG. A fairly dominating myXMG win in game 1 was answered by 3 wins in a row by SK. myXMG picked up a close game 5 to equal out goal differential and secure their 4th spot in rankings. SK with the wins takes the 3rd spot and a comfortable position going forward.

nXs vs SNK Apollo

Pluto out for reseasons unknown to me gave us a 2nd chance in 2 days to see Insolences fill in on the nXs squad. Games were traded back and forth with nXs taking 1, 3 and 5. Neither team managed to hold momentum from game to game but Lachinio and Huskih managed to put home the goals to carry their teams to their respective wins.

Failure To Launch v iBUYPOWER Cosmic

Probably the most expected result for me with iBP taking all over the brand new FtL. iBP will likely take back the sole standing as #1 in the power rankings after this win and an IRCL win over NOT afterwards. FtL did show well in each game but were edged out by some of the most team oriented goals we saw all day from iBP. I look forward to FtL's devolpement as a pro team and also worry about the other teams in the league if iBP can continue such dominance.

Kings of Urban v NOT

The most hyped match of the day between 2 of the 3 teams currently holding the #1 NA power ranking was a little messy. Both teams seemed a little off in the first game with KoU capitalizing on more mistakes than NOT. Game 2 took us back to wasteland for the 3rd time today where NOT took a close win on their map choice. Games 3 and 4 were pretty lopsidedly in favor of KoU but NOT managed to win game 5 to control some of the damage.

Overall a very exciting day for Rocket League eSports with 3k+ viewers and some excellent gameplay from all of our teams. Looking forward to next week's games already!
