New Rocket Royale Format

Rocket Royale | History
On October 11, 2015, the very first Rocket Royale debuted to the world and would go on to become one of the most beloved competitions in the Rocket League community. Over the course of 7 weeks, Rocket Royale featured the best teams with EU completely dominating the scene by taking all 7 wins. After all was said and done, FlipSid3 Tactics went on to take 5 wins while SK Gaming took 2 wins (one of which was the incredible double Grand Finals win over FlipSid3 Tactics as they came up from the lower bracket).
The format of the first iteration of Rocket Royale required the top teams from the Power Rankings to first battle in a single elimination qualifier bracket with only a couple moving on to the Rocket Royale 8-team seeded double elimination bracket. Each week, the top 4 from the previous week would auto-qualify to play in the next Rocket Royale as the top 4 seeds with the bottom 4 seeds coming via the single elimination qualifier bracket. This allowed one region to potentially have as many as 6 teams or as few as 2 teams in each weekly event.

Rocket Royale | Revamped
On March 31st, 2016, the press release regarding our partnership with Psyonix was released to the public and with it came the announcement of the return of Rocket Royale! However, knowing that the RLCS was set to begin soon, we wanted to ensure that this new rendition of Rocket Royale was structured in a way to support the RLCS and offer teams an opportunity play at a high competitive level outside of the main event. We ensured that some of the key elements of the original were retained, but built the new format with the intention of fostering an environment for up-and-coming semi-pro teams to test their mettle against the pros. We've also set up several variations to help allow for maximum flexibility and efficiency. At its core, Rocket Royale is designed to provide teams with a clear competitive path to the RLCS.
