Notifications - No Messages

When someone messages me through the site, I'll usually hear a sound for the notification, a small text on the side showing what they message, and then the message shows up in my messages.

But the last few people who have messaged me, while I receive the sound and small text, the message is disappearing from my messages. So I cant respond to or see whoever is reaching out to me. Would appreciate a fix. I've disabled my pop-ups and ad-blocker, but I don't think that's helping.
