Tournament rules

General Rules for Rocket-League.com Competitions

The following rules apply for all Rocket League competitions that are organized by Rocket-League.com and open to the public to sign up and take part.

 Besides these general regulations for amateur tournaments, there are several individual rules for each competition. You will find these on the particular tournament website.

  1. General

    1. Administration and Announcements
      1. Every League/Tournament owner is authorized by Rocket-League.com to administrate the competition based on its rules and regulations
      2. Official announcements as well as statements of Rocket-League admins at any place (e.g. competition website, support ticket reply, Skype, Steam, Teamspeak) can ignore or overrule the following rules in order to make the competition as fair as possible. In case of contradicting declarations, the most recent announcement or admin statement counts.
    2. Participants & Teams

      1. Every real person - unless officially banned - with a valid Steam or PSN account is allowed to participate in the competition and will be called "participant" in the following. Participants joining a team in order to fulfill the minimum required amount of team members will be called a "team" in the following.
    3. Commitments

      1. By attending competitions, participants acknowledge without limitation to comply with the rules and regulations, official announcement, and with the statements and decisions made by the Rocket-League.com admins.

      2. Every participant acknowledges the right for the administration to modify the rules and regulations for adjustments at any time without notice.

      3. Every participant has to show the needed respect towards admins and other participants. Insults and unfair or disrespectful behavior towards anyone are not tolerated and will be punished.

      4. Every participant must always have the newest version of Steam and Rocket installed and has to check for updates in time before each match. Unless a new version comes out right before the match, patching is not a valid reason to delay it.

      5. Every team accepts the official schedule of the competition and declares its ability to be available during these times.

      6. Every team and participant has to try to win every game at every stage of the competition. Purposefully losing for any reason is strictly forbidden.
    4. Communication
      1. All communication in between participants and Rocket-League.com administrators has to be in English language.
      2. All communication between opposing teams should run through the official competition website and other communication platforms like Skype, Steam, PSN or our own Teamspeak server. Teamspeak server address: rocket-league.com
  2. Teams & players

    1. Team Size
      • A team has to consist of at least two member players. Those persons will be called "team members" or "members" of the team in the following.
    2. Registration
      • When signing up for a competition, a team agrees that they will have enough players available to play all matches in the tournament, and have access to the platform that that competition is being held on.
    3. Lineup Changes
      • Team members can be removed or added by the administrators during a competition as long as the minimum team requirements for that competition are met at all times. There might be additional restrictions to this rule in specific competitions.
    4. In-game Names
      • Each player agrees that if they change their Steam or Playstation Network name whilst in a tournament, they will update the corresponding name field on their Rocket-League.com profile promptly so that they can be recognised by other players.
  3. Schedule

    1. Match times
      • Unless otherwise stated, it is the responsibility of the players in a tournament to schedule matches in which they are involved. Matches can be played at any time, but if a match takes too long to organise and prevents a competition from progressing the administrators reserve the right to take any action they see fit to speed up the progression of the tournament.
    2. Rescheduling
      • The change of a match time is only possible under some circumstances and has to be confirmed by the administration/league owner.
    3. Scheduling
      • Both team owners or members has to agree on a time to schedule the match. Communication on website, Steam, PSN, Skype is strongly recommended. Team owners or members can add each other on the above online platforms and discuss there the scheduling of the match.
  4. Hosting & Settings

    1. Lobby Hosting
      • In a Best of One situation, both teams should agree on the host and on the server.
      • In a Best of Three or Best of Five situation, both teams should agree on the host.
      • The basic hosting system for BO3/BO5 is Team 1 to host the first game, Team 2 the second game and Team 1 again to host the third game (if applicable) and so on for BO5.
  5. During a game

    1. Disconnects
      • If a player disconnects, it’s up to his team if they want to continue the match or not. If a player disconnects, the rematch can happen only if both teams agrees.
    2. Broadcasting
      • Every player and spectator is allowed to stream the game at any time. Keeping the stream footage is recommended, though not required.
    3. Bugs
      • If any serious bugs occur, the game has to be quit immediately and the match has to be re-played. If a team doesn’t agree on the rematch, a video recording of the bug is strongly recommended. The admin will decide then the outcome. Abusing a bug is forbidden.
    4. Tools & hacks
      • The usage of any Rocket League tool aside from Steam, PSN and Rocket League during a match is strictly forbidden.
    5. Ending
      • A game is finished at the end of the default 5 minutes if a team scored more goals than the opposite, after Overtime if the game is tied, when the majority of a team leaves on purpose, or when the administration decides on it.
    6. Result submission
      • The winning team is required to submit the match result on the match page. A screenshot of the match scoreboard after the game was finished, is strongly required, but optional.
      • The losing team has to confirm the match result submitted by the winning team on the match page.
      • Submitting wrong or false match results, not confirming a correct match result is strictly forbidden and punishable.
      • Fair-play is strongly encouraged!
  6. Rule Violation & Punishment

    1. Breaking of the rules or ignoring the order of an admin may result in a punishment for a whole team or a specific player. Type and amount is chosen by an admin.
      • Default Loss for one game
      • Default Loss for the whole match
      • Score Reduction (during a group stage)
      • Temporary or permanent ban from the competition
      • Ban from other Rocket-League.com competitions
    2. Possible Player Punishments
      • Temporary ban from the competition
      • Permanent ban from the competition
      • Ban from other Rocket-League.com competitions
    3. Rule violations in other tournaments
      • Heavy rule violations on external Rocket League leagues or tournaments may also result in punishments for Rocket-League.com competitions.
