na Power Rankings {10/28/15 - 11/4/15}

Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

Cosmic Aftershock

Roster: Kronovi, Sadjunior, Gibbs, KyleMasc

Cosmic Aftershock continues to beat all of the NA teams that they face and recently have only lost to the top few EU teams. This is more than enough to land them unanimously at the #1 spot, but definitely makes for an interesting conversation if there were to be a Top 10-20 International Power Ranking. With Gibbs back from vacation, we'll get a chance to see CA rocking their starting lineup for the first time in a few weeks. I don't expect a drastic difference, though, as KyleMasc has done a fantastic job subbing in thus far. Rumor is that CA has a fairly sizable announcement coming soon and the smart money is all pointing to some sort of sponsorship offer. For now, though, we can just refer to them as the clear favorite in the NA competitive scene.

vQ Untethered

Roster: Pluto, Lachinio, Vafele

It's been roughly 2 weeks since we last saw the likes of Lachinio, Vafele, & Pluto playing together. Lately, they've had availability issues and needed subs like Demic, SnakeCharmer113, & BigFunny to fill in. They failed to qualify for Rocket Royale this past weekend, but are still widely considered to be one of the best NA teams when they're at full strength. For now their position is uncontested, but as more time goes on without a significant win the chances of a change-up at the #2 slot become far more likely.

Kings of Urban

Roster: Fireburner, Jacob, Gambit

Kings of Urban are in a bit of a curious position right now, however we need to forget that and take a look at their overall performances within the last week. Even though Vafele had to substitute in for Gambit (who joined EU team Swarm Gaming) in the later part of Rocket Royale, they still posted a 3-0 against TiRi and even took Cosmic to a game 5, proving that they are still a very capable team who can knock down the top two at any moment. However, the gap between the teams in the top 10 is closing with time and I won't be surprised if we finally see some movement among the ranks near the top. As for what lies ahead in the near future for KoU, that is all up to speculation for now.

Apollo 11

Roster: Huskih, PrimeThunder, Azi, Lars

Just over a month ago, Apollo 11 had seemingly come out of nowhere and quickly shot up the Power Rankings much faster than any other team has to this point. Since then, they've had a very consistent run while hovering around the 4/5 spot and garnered a great deal of attention, notably from the likes of sponsors. The latest news is that they've officially signed on with SnK eSports and that will become their new team name, replacing Apollo 11. Considering how well they fared just this past week in Rocket Royale (beating NA #5 Orange Creamsicle, EU #6 Dot Dot Dot, and taking EU #3 Complain to 5 games), this group is definitely deserving of their new deal and should be proud of what they've accomplished in such a short time.

Orange Creamsicle

Roster: Edwind, Quinn Lobdell, ElmirFudd?

Fresh off their first ever ESL win, Orange Creamsicle seem to be back to their normal winning ways. There's still no definitive word on their third, though they continue to roll with ElmirFudd and are achieving respectable results. They very nearly qualified for Rocket Royale with a squad of Edwin, ElmirFudd, ParkourPenguin88 (Propulsion flashbacks, anyone?), but were up-ended by Apollo 11 in Game 5 of the qualifiers. For now, it appears that this team is comfortably set within the Top 10 but they face a lot of competition from the squads just above and below them. They'll have another opportunity this weekend to face some of that competition as they attempt to qualify for Rocket Royale and then again on 11/07 as they compete in the ESL October Monthly Finals. Right now, the gap between 4-8 is very slight and OC has a solid chance to be at the top of this middle pack.

Titanium Ricochet

Roster: Klassux, Cazaz911, WaZe_One87

Titanium Ricochet find themselves in the same spot as last week, but without any ties. They had a good showing in the Rocket Royale Qualifiers as they took out Double Tap 3-2 and vQU (with subs) 3-1, but were then quickly ousted from the main event with key losses to both of the #3 teams (NA-Kings of Urban and EU-Complain). In ESL, they managed to coast easily to the Semi Finals before losing a close 5 game match against the eventual winners Orange Creamsicle. In the 3rd place match, however, they lost 3-1 to Double Tap who had Huskih subbed in for Jamesbot. Ricochet has shown before that they're very capable of moving all the way up to the #3 rank, but they're going to need a solid week of wins to accomplish that again. The first test will be the RGN 3v3 where they take on Apollo 11 / SnK eSports.

Flash Flood

Roster: Gimlax, Mister Justice, TooSlow

I am not going to say that FF's performance on Sunday caught everyone by surprise like a flash flood because that would just be too easy. Flash Flood have actually been playing every Sunday for a long time but it is only as of now that we are finally able to see FF for the capabilities that they posses. We wouldn't usually place a team into the top 10 so immediately but FF did a fantastic job defeating a handful of the players on this list and nearly even took the Go4 cup had they not lost in game 7 against OC. I really want to give these guys some credit because even though they may not have been the flashiest of teams, the played brilliantly when it came down to the basics of good clears, solid saves and great team work.

Double Tap

Roster: Jamesbot, Fl0w, Sir Pancake III

After being tied for 6th last week, Double Tap finds themselves moving down two spots this week, mainly due to 3 significant losses to Titanium Ricochet, DeVoid Gaming, & Flash Flood. The competition around them is rising, but they're one of the most consistent teams that we've had on the Power Rankings. As long as they can stay on top of scrims and competing in as many events as possible, there's no reason why they can't stay in the running for a higher placing. They'll potentially get a chance for a re-match against Flash Flood this Saturday in the Rocket Royale Qualifiers where a win could be enough to start trending them upwards again.

DeVoid Gaming

Roster: TvLow5ive, zOctanez, Cougycougs

It is great to see DeVoid back in the mix after what seemingly could have been their falling out and potentially even a disbanding. Even though DeVoid hasn't been popping up in all of the tournaments, we did get a bit of a refresher in a recent RGN match. DeVoid proved that they haven't been laying stagnant and took down the formidable Double Tap, a feat that has proven difficult for many of the teams here. However, it is hard to gauge where exactly they sit within the list after one reappearance, but I am too much of a fan of these guys to let them go unnoticed. Individually these guys are fantastic, like Low5ive's mechanical skills, so it's no wonder that they are able to do so well as a team.

Team Fresh

For some reason Team Fresh's success this week relied on how they fared against Orange Creamsicle as they ended up playing them 3 times. In the RGN 3v3, they lost 1-3 and then lost 0-3 in both the Rocket Royale Qualifiers and ESL Cup #13. Now there is something to be said for the fact that OC is currently ranked #5 and just won ESL this past weekend, but aside from a good 3-2 win over isT.GoodfellasFC (sporting Lachinio as a sub), TF don't have much to show this week. Couple that with the 3-2 loss to Apollo 11 a week ago and you have a recipe for a talented team to fall nearly all the way out of the Power Rankings. It's tough, because some times the matches don't line up in your favor (especially when you play the same team multiple times), but consistency is the key.
