na Power Rankings {10/14/15 - 10/21/15}

Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

Cosmic Aftershock

Roster: Kronovi, Gibbs, Sadjunior

Cosmic Aftershock has been a bit off and on, but if their previous result is anything to note, they are still more than capable of beating EU and NA powerhouses more often than not. While it does seem that CA depends on each player coming in at their best, when it does happen the wonderfully orchestrated performances are a sight to be seen. Surely the CA we saw at the MLG playoffs should be a thing of the past as it was a necessary push the team needed in order to take the scene seriously again. With Gibbs gone for the next two weekends, Cosmic Aftershock will have to find a suitable sub for the tough international games ahead.

vQ Untethered

Roster: Lachinio, Pluto, Vafele

vQ Untethered got a wake up call this past week after getting basically dismantled by the EU powerhouses of Swarm and Flipsid3 with a combined record of 4-11 over the weekend. They did show up against Kings of Urban and played a close series with CA in the group stages of Rocket Royale but NA looks to be clearly the weaker region at the top right now. This could be the wake up call vQ needs as well as CA and KOU to compete at the top.

Kings of Urban

Roster: Gambit, Fireburner, Jacob

Kings of Urban has without a doubt blossomed over the last week. It could be because of their recent roster change and a mix up of their previous strategy, but these guys have proven themselves to be the Kryptonite for NA's #1 Cosmic Aftershock. While I can't see them beating the same top teams that CA does just yet, KoU has anchored themselves into the top 3. While it's too early to say what exactly will be happening with KoU given their new third Jacob, I am excited to see how they can shake things up at the top of the scene.

Apollo 11

Roster: Huskih, Azi, Lars, PrimeThunder, Dan

Houston, we have lift off! Apollo 11 are orbiting safely below the top 3. They have been very consistent and look to be in the 4-6 range pretty safely. They need to put some work in to eclipse the top 3 but this weekend's qualifier's for RocketRoyale is a great opportunity to face tougher opponents and show their worth.

Titanium Ricochet

Roster: Cazaz911, Klassux, WaZe_One87

I can easily say that I am a fan of watching Titanium Ricochet, but what I worry of most is consistency. I am not saying that TiRi will fall in similar ways that we have seen others, but I feel as though there may be outside forces that can keep this squad from performing at their fullest. In retrospect though, TiRi has pulled out some upsets in the past and their leader Klassux plans to keep up the momentum. Nevertheless, Apollo11 edges the squad out today because of A11's stronger series against KoU during Sunday's ESL Finals

Double Tap

Roster: Flow, Jamesbot, Sir PancakeIII, Pulse696

I truly am a fan of the Double Tap squad. They're extremely fun company to be around and have really done a fantastic job of regularly playing together and encouraging each other with great communication. This enjoyable atmosphere that they've created is likely a big part of their steady climb to the Top 6. Bias aside, though, while this crew is on the right path, they still have a bit of work to do. They're consistently beating the teams that are lower ranked than them and competing well in scrims against teams ranked higher than them, but have yet to beat any of them in a tournament setting. They'll get a good opportunity this weekend to truly show what they're made of, however, the question still remains... will they double up and blast through their competition or will they tap out?

BK Randys

Roster: Air194, GriffinD_Mighty, craid18, Evo_831

I was first introduced to the term "BK Randy" by my friend ParkourPenguin88 (member of the now dormant team Propulsion), but didn't ever really expect to see a team go by that name, let alone leapfrog their way into the Power Rankings. Yet, here we are. I have to admit, I was a little surprised when I saw how impressive their run was this past weekend during ESL Cup #11... until I saw their roster. Now, don't get me wrong... they still did a heck of a job... but I distinctly remember Air194 & GriffinD_Mighty from the team "Cheeky Cants" consistently doing well before we started the Power Rankings. So, while I'm impressed by their run... I can't say that I'm completely surprised considering the talent this squad contains. The true test lies ahead, though, as they'll need to continue to compete consistently and do an even better job if they want remain ranked.

Orange Creamsicle

Roster: Edwind, Quinn Lobdell, ?Stoney?

This week it became a bit more apparent where we needed to keep OC at in the rankings as Gibbs' previous statement has held. However, once OC has found a third from the small selection of top tier players still going around from team to team, I have little doubt that we'll be seeing them transition back into a #4 position. The major difference now is that many new teams have emerged and a few of them are staying consistent, so it's not going to be a cakewalk.

Team Fresh

Straight out of the box, this squad is so fresh they've even got Tuco Salamanca calling them "tight". Ok, maybe not quite... but they have definitely proven that they're a force to be reckoned with in the world of Rocket League. After flirting with the fringes of the Top 10 over the past few weeks, they finally taken the plunge and dived head first into the fray. I've had the distinct pleasure of being on the wrong end of a shellacking in Ranked 3v3s against this squad. They may be a relatively new squad, but this collar-popping crew does not disappoint when it comes to skills on the pitch.

Mob Royalty

Roster: Drpepperman3, Flyingpotaotoman, MountainNomads, JayTee4Life

Mob Royalty have been sitting in the 11-15 range for a few weeks now. With a quality win in ESL against Fusion Corps and taking a game off of Titanium Ricochet, they are showing some promise. Hopefully they can continue to climb back into the rankings instead of going back to their usual 11-15 spot.
