eu Power Rankings {7/19/16 - 7/26/16}

Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

We Dem Girlz

Roster: Remkoe, gReazy, Maestro

The ranking for first was straight forward this week, due to the fact WDG won the majority of the tournaments which they entered, beating Mockit twice in two finals.

The first tournament of the week got off to a bit of a rocky start. WDG didn’t enter Monday’s Gfinity tournament as they made the top 8 to qualify for the ESL’s monthly finals. Here they faced Savage! in the first round. Rather surprisingly they lost this match 3-2. However it should be noted Savage! had Scrub filling in the 3rd spot.

WDG bounced back from this defeat perfectly in Friday’s Gfinity where they won the whole thing! In doing so they beat Rapid shots (an upcoming team) and Did we make it (A PUG team consisting of Reganam, Godsmilla and myself) 3-0. They then beat another PUG team (Yemen, Supraa and Jacob) 3-1 in the semis, before beating Mockit 4-1 in the final. So not a bad day for WDG. WDG also entered Rocket Royale on Sunday, where they beat Team Enjoy in phase one. In the groups (phase 2) they topped their group winning all 3 series. (3-0 vs Rapid shots and 3-2 vs Aeriality and Mockit) In the EU finals, they beat Team Enjoy again 3-0 and then Mockit 4-2 in the final! Therefore, overall it was a rather good week for WDG, and there was certainly no reason for them to drop a place.

Mock-it eSports EU

Roster: Paschy90, Turbopolsa, Sikii

Mock-it EU move back up into 2nd in the rankings after a few weeks of being behind FlipSid3 Tactics. This comes off the back of a crushing 3-0 victory in favour of Mock-it against FlipSid3 during the Friday Gfinity tournament. Other notable Gfinity games in the last week for Mock-it include a 3-0 victory over New Archon, 3-0 against The Flying Dutchmen, and a 1-4 loss to We Dem Girlz. In Rocket Royale they had a relatively strong performance, taking out New Archon yet again 2-1, Aeriality 3-1, Rapid Shots 3-2, before losing again to WDG 2-3. Then came the finals of Rocket Royale where they crucially beat FlipSid3 Tactics again 3-2. Following this they then lost yet again to WDG, this time 2-4.

It is clear therefore from this past week that Mock-it EU have improved to the point in which they can consistently take down FlipSid3, thus resulting in their 2nd place ranking, moving ahead of F3. What is also clear however is their inability to beat WDG, a task F3 do seem to be able to accomplish, subsequently there’s an odd 3-way triangle between the clear top 3 teams in Europe. This factor will play a major role heading into the RLCS LAN finals in just over 2 weeks’ time.

Flipsid3 Tactics

Roster: Markydooda, Kuxir97, M1k3rules, mye_bipod_4shor

FlipSid3 entered two tournaments this week: Friday's GFinity and the new Rocket Royale.

Starting with GFinity they had a bit of a slip up. They beat a couple of unknown teams 3-0 and 3-1 to begin with and then beat Savage! 3-1, but ended up losing 3-0 to Mock-It. Whilst Mock-It beating FlipSid3 isn't exactly shocking, a convincing 3-0 victory leans on the surprising side.

In Rocket Royale they beat all of their Phase 1 and Phase 2 opponents very comfortably, including a 2-0 vs. eXtatus, a 3-0 vs. Miracle Workers, a 3-1 vs. Team ENJOY and a 3-1 vs. Crown & Jewels, but then they lost to Mock-It once more in the EU Semi-Finals. This was closer however, as they lost only 3-2. These two losses vs. Mock-It, combined with last week's 4-3 loss against Supersonic Avengers, and FlipSid3 move to 3rd place for the first time since the 27th April.

Supersonic Avengers

Roster: ELMP, Snaski, Doomsee, Kasabi

Where did SA go?! They seemingly did a disappearing act and didn't participate in any tournaments. It looks like the boys took a break after their last-ditch effort to qualify for RLCS LAN and rightfully so. They don't get punished for not participating because the teams below them didn't show enough quality in games to bump them down.

The Flying Dutchmen

Roster: Dogu, Jessiepinkmaan, PauliepauINL, Vogan

TFD have had an incredibly, amazingly, fantastically average week. They played in two tournaments, they lost in the final of ESL Monthly to Savage! plus Scrub Killa, which i would have thought TFD should beat, but as Savage! also beat WDG they get a bit of slack. The win over Team Enjoy in the tournament helped them a lot, to solidify their position over the up and coming top 5 pack members. TFD then played Gfinity on Friday, and kinda just strolled into Mock It EU’s big belly, getting knocked over, and leaving a pretty predictable, and boring tournament for TFD. They keep their 5th spot, as no team are really yet challenging them, but with the way things have been looking, I see them losing a meow meow bean or two soon. I guess they do have the small holiday to Hollywood to keep them happy, the lucky f...

Roster: Grandmaster Sexay, Friisisch, FreaKi

Team ENJOY get a toasty bump up two spots to 6th place this week after a splendid week. Their first tournament was Monday's ESL June Monthly Finals. They started by beating a mishmash of well-known players (KayDop, Master and Mikageishi) under the guise of Gentlemen 3-1, but then lost 3-2 to The Flying Dutchmen (playing under the name Hoops I Did It Again). However in their 3rd place match they beat Supernova 4-2.

In Rocket Royale they did equally as well after beating Unspecified 2-1 and then beating them again 2-0 in the LB after losing 2-0 to We Dem Girlz. In Phase 2 they came 2nd with 7 points, only 2 behind FlipSid3, after beating Crown & Jewels 3-2 and getting a default win against Miracle Workers due to them forfeiting. This sent them into the EU Finals alongside We Dem Girlz, Mock-It, and FlipSid3 Tactics. Unfortunately their run ended here after losing 3-0 to We Dem Girlz. However, this impressive Rocket Royale run has done very well for their rankings.

Roster: Bluey, Deevo, ?

Savage! remain 7th for this week. As Savage! qualified for the ESL monthly final, they could not enter Monday’s Gfinity. In the ESL monthly final, Savage! didn’t have the easiest bracket in the world. In the first round they had to face no.1 in the PR, and favourites for the tournament, WDG. However, Savage! were able to get defeat WDG, taking them down 3-2. In the next round they faced Supernova, sweeping them 3-0. They then faced TFD in the final, also taking them down 4-2 to win the whole tournament! This tournament is the main reason there is a big difference in rankings for Savage! because rankers decided to ignore these results, due to the fact that they had Scrub playing for them as a 3rd. However, as Savage currently only have 2 members, and Scrub played with them a lot in the month Savage! qualified for the monthly finals, which helped put Savage on the Power Rankings, I decided to count it, which is the main reason for my high ranking this week. However, I shall no longer count any more results Savage! achieve with Scrub as their 3rd.

Savage! then suffered a bit of a dip in form after this result. In Friday’s Gfinity Savage! got to the quarter final before losing to My little Pony 2.0 (A team consisting of 2/3 New Archon and Zixter) This defeat was a bit of a shock, but not disastrous. Savage also entered Mockit’s 3v3 tournament on Saturday, where they lost to Precision Z in the winners bracket, then lost to Arcanum in the losers bracket. However, as Precision Z are not as yet an official team again, and with Arcanum being an NA team, neither of these loses effected their PR position.

Crown & Jewels

Roster: Sebadam, Flarke, Scrub Killa, Kaydop

Crown & Jewels drop a bit but not entirely due to their own performances. Their first tournament performance was in Friday's GFinity where they beat current #12 ranked eXtatus but wound up facing another one of Yemen's super teams in the next round ultimately losing 1-3 in the series.

Their next foray was the reboot of Rocket Royale. They didn't have too much difficulty beating their first opponents (Rapid Shots) 2-0 before moving onto Phase 2 and the group stage. In group stage C&J had relatively expected results although i'm sure they are disappointed in the end result. They had an expected 1-3 series loss to FlipSid3 Tactics but had close 5 game series against Miracle Workers (3-2 win) and Team ENJOY (2-3 loss). Crown & Jewels ultimately missed out on the finals because of their series loss to Team ENJOY which cut their Royale short.

Roster: Piksel, Continuum, Metsanauris

Aeriality, played in three tournaments this week, and did pretty ok. They did well to beat Cow Nose in Gfinity on Monday, which is a good win over a new upcoming top 10 team, and keeps them in the top 10 comfortably. They did lose to Mock It EU in the finals though, but that is to be expected, and they did well to make it there. They then played in Mock It 3’s on Saturday… and did not quite do so well... like at all… like pretty poorly… like they literally didn’t do very great. Like, if you were using a hamster to store cheese. It will fit some cheese in, and it won’t always instantly eat the cheese, and they are definitely not the worst animals to store your cheese in, but i’m also pretty certain you could do a lot better. Maybe a snail? Aeriality though, lost to Precision Z 0-2, who have been doing pretty well lately, but are not currently being classed as an official team. They dropped to the losers bracket where they lost to eXtatus 1-2. In Rocket Royale they first lost to eXtatus 1-2, but came back to beat them 2-0 to make the group stage, where they placed 3rd, over Rapid Shot, and hence didn't move on from there. A pretty iffy ending to the week with the two loses to eXtatus, but it wasn't all bad, with closes series against Mock It and We Dem Girlz. Kinda like pouring yourself a glass of wine on Sunday, going to the cage, and finding the cheese you stored in your hamster to have been replaced by like a small insect it found, after it decided to eat the cheese, and store the insect in its cheeks instead. But yet you still have some wine, so its not all bad.

New Archon

Roster: Cheerio, ZneedTV, ZIDROX

New Archon are a brand new team into the top 10 rankings this week, having only formed roughly 2 weeks ago. In terms of played games this past week, they played in one of the smaller Gfinity tournaments, losing 0-3 to Mock-it EU. They then also had 2/3 of their roster going into Friday’s Gfinity tournament in which they beat Savage! 3-2, and showed a solid performance against FlipSid3 Tactics, going 1-3. Following this they also played the return of Rocket Royale on Sunday in which they played three best of 3 series, 2 of which came against Miracle Workers (Stocki, Killerno7, Heavy, Ryuk). They initially beat them 2-1, but then lost to them in the follow-up 0-2. In between these 2 series they took on Mock-it EU and lost 1-2, a respectable performance but expected.

Zidrox and Zneed are 2 players from the Unrivalled team that existed a while ago and had some successes, and their 3rd player Cheerio is from the disbanded Eff0rt. So they’ve certainly got some experience and plenty of talent. I can see a future in which they hold down a top 10 spot if the quality of the players turns into a well-coordinated team.
