Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

Kings of Urban

Roster: Fireburner, Jacob, Sadjunior, Flow

Kings of Urban came back after a week off and started their competitive week in GamerSaloon Champions League squaring off against the head-turning, sexy, new kid in school, Momentum. Kings fell to Momentum 1-3. However they felt after that loss, Kings of Urban came back and won Rocket Royale. Their victims? Goomba (2-0), Lucky Bounce with Timbathy / Memory / Matt (2-1), Retrospect with Klassux / Darkfire / Snaski (3-1), Genesis (3-1), and Exodus (4-0). That 4-0 victory over Exodus is particularly important in solidifying KoU’s #1 spot despite the loss to Momentum in GSCL. Kings are still scary good and very deserving of NA's #1 spot.

Exodus

Roster: Moses, Garrett, Turtle, Huskih, Stev

Exodus seems to be having trouble finding KoU’s weakness. Time and time again, they burn through tournaments only to be snuffed out in the finals by the kings. Exodus came close in the RLCS Q2 finals losing by a hair in a 3-4 series. This week, the Rocket Royale finals ended up another rough loss. This time a 0-4 blowout. Don’t get me wrong, Exodus is still performing very well against the rest of their competition (3-1 over an experimental iBP roster, 3-0 over 2 EZ, and 2-1 over Foresight), but I do have high expectations for this squad. I think it’s about time that they at least get one series win over KoU post-roster-shuffle. It’s not as if KoU is invincible, they do lose here and there. They just seem to have a spell over the newest Exodus lineup. I believe that this elusive result is coming soon, and with it, a new edge of confidence for Moses, Turtle and Garrett.

Momentum

Roster: Dappur, watsupmijo_24, JKnaps, Timi_F

I can see Momentum easily beginning to challenge the top 2 in the coming weeks if they maintain this form. They only had one loss on their record against Goomba Squad (2-3) in the PPL Qualifiers but went on to defeat them 3-1 in the same tournament. The only other loss of the week was a disqualification against Ironhype due to their PPL match clashing with this game. However it is the set of results against the top 10 teams which was the most interesting.

Across the PPL and HYPE tournaments, Momentum managed to pick up three series wins over Retrospect as well as a win over Kings Of Urban and iBP Cosmic. But the most incredible aspect of these wins is the nature in which they won. They went a combined 14-4 where three of those losses were against Retrospect. Momentum, at least in my view, has shown there is a case to be made for them to be top 3 or even top 2 in North America and even though they are tied for 3rd this week, it is a matter of when and not if, at this rate.

iBUYPOWER Cosmic

Roster: Kronovi, Lachinio, 0ver_Zer0, Gibbs*

Let's talk power. iBP is probably the most noteworthy team in NA if by nothing other than their history. This roster has contained some of the most recognizable personalities and talents this side of the pond, and while Kro is the only remaining member of the original roster participating under their sponsor, the team carries on as a worthy competitor. If you saw last week's rankings, you'll know from the previous write-up that this will be Cosmic's longest standing absence from the top seed. Gambit has stepped back from the scene, and 0ver_zer0 is fighting an uphill battle to fill in the space.

As for specifically how well they're doing, outside of Royale where they played with Insolences as a sub, iBP only competed as a full team in GSCL against Genesis (3-0) who was rocking their sub Kovanel that night. And while they can inch by with third this time, come next week they'll be fighting against Momentum for placement. Their immediate fixation of staying above the hottest newcomers may pale in comparison to what lies ahead of them. RLCS is just around the corner, and the team seems to be much less favored than right before Qual 2. For fans however, this is still an incredibly skilled team and you shouldn't forget that. Roster swaps happen frequently, and if you're worried about Zero's confidence or capabilities, he recently did an interview during PRL's 2v2 tourney where you can learn much more about the newcomer fighting for your favor.

Badger

Mock-it eSports NA

Roster: Insolences, Rizzo, Zanejackey, Low5ive*

That was our reporter in the field with an eye opening piece on Newton's laws of motion. Now back to the news. Hey guys, it's yah boi Badger with another hot segment of 'Basically Nothing'." As to remind anyone reading, the community rankings have always used a system in which we withhold removal from, but not movement within, the rankings. This means that a team can basically take a week off without dropping from the board entirely, but the team is still subject to movement if other teams outperform their historical basis. As for Mockit, they didn't put up results this week, but had a very strong showing the week before, specifically a tournament win in Royale. However, they did not have to face the powerhouse that was KoU. Coming into this week, I personally want to see some results between this group, iBP, and the very hot Momentum. Mock is a strong team currently mixed in with a batch that consists of the former titans and the recently successful. Maybe we'll see a Royale where every top 5 can volunteer a full roster next Sunday, because I'm a very needy person that is missing seeing some of the match-ups that came with the RLCS groups. Either way, Mock most likely puts up results next week and we can finally end this dreaded mess of mixed placements between our group of rankers. "And now Coleman, with sports..."

Genesis

Roster: Pluto, Quinn Lobdell, Espeon, HWS*, Kovanel*

Genesis seems to be struggling with consistency. This week looked better for the starting roster: 2-0 2 EZ, 3-1 Foresight, 1-3 KoU. All numbers that make sense for this group given their history. However, trying to stay afloat by beating teams they’re supposed to and losing to teams they’re supposed to just won’t cut it. Other teams like Momentum are producing impressive results which are currently rocketing them upwards in the rankings. Maintaining status quo will only result in a loss of ground in the current NA scene. NA rosters have always been organic and are currently far from settled with high level free agents floating around just waiting to take part in the next siege of the top 5. If Genesis wants to avoid furthering this slow trickle, they will need to start improving their results, which I believe is absolutely possible. I don’t think we have seen the full potential of this roster revealed quite yet.

Retrospect

Roster: Klassux, DarkFire, Matt

A mixture of the Retro founder, Lucky Bounce, and Selfless now are striving towards the goal of reliving the old Retrospect glory. So far that glory is a bit out of reach, but as a relatively new roster with lots of time on their hands, they shouldn't worry too much. Coming in at the #7 spot in this weeks rankings, Retrospect actually didn't see any teams higher than them besides Momentum, whom they lost to 3 times in HYPE and in the PPL qualifiers. The games ended up as a 0-2, 1-3, and 2-3 vs Momentum whereas Retro seemed to be relatively comfortable against the on-the-bubble teams; with the exception to a 3-2 win against Empyreal. Even though Retrospect did play in RR, they weren't able to bring in the full roster as Snaski hopped in for Matt but honestly what was the most odd part of that was that Matt played with Lucky Bounce during RR. I don't really know what this means for their roster, but it does seem that there are more than a couple of NA players trying to find out which team is the right fit for them. Roster changes aside, Retro does have a good chance for making improvements and, they have already jumped up 2 positions this week. The state of many of the top NA teams around Retro are pretty much up in the air waiting to get dunked on by the new up and comer. Given players with tons of experience in high pressure situations, and skill to back that up, Retrospect has the right ingredients to make a bright future.

Lucky Bounce

Roster: Timbathy, Memory, Torment*, ???

I anticipate a lot of confusion as to the state of Lucky Bounce and their place in the Power Rankings. So allow me to layout the recent timeline and explain how this all works from our perspective.

Saturday July 16: DarkFire tweeted that he was leaving Lucky Bounce.

Sunday July 17:, Jknaps tweeted that he was also leaving the team.

Sunday July 17: September tweeted he was LFT.

Wednesday July 20: Timbathy and Torment added Memory to the roster.

Thursday July 21: Timbathy, Torment, and Memory participated in GSCL. After GSCL, Torment tweeted that he was leaving the team.

From the committee’s perspective, Lucky Bounce lost 2 of their 4 members. With Timbathy and Torment remaining on the team, Lucky Bounce retained their history going into this ranking period of July 18th through July 24th. They participated in one event with the new official Timbathy / Torment / Memory roster. Then Torment left Lucky Bounce leaving 2/3rds of their official roster in Timbathy / Memory to find a 3rd. Since 2/3rds of Lucky Bounce remain, they retain their history. So, while you see now that Timbathy is the sole remaining member of the Lucky Bounce of two weeks ago, Lucky Bounce retains their history versus being treated as a new team by the absolute narrowest of circumstances.

Looking at their results, the Timbathy / Torment / Memory roster squared off against Mockit NA in GSCL where they fell 2-3 after going up early in the series 2-0. This weekend they fell 0-2 to No Capes in the Mockit 3v3 and a roster of Timbathy / Memory / Matt participated in Rocket Royale where they faced Boost > Ball (2-0), Kings of Urban (1-2), Goomba Squad (2-0), and iBP Cosmic (0-3). I have no idea what’s in store for Lucky Bounce going forward. Allegedly the combo of Timbathy / Memory / (unknown third) will stay together to fulfill their commitments to the various leagues they agreed to participate in as indicated in this message. Any astute readers noticed that (former Lucky Bounce member) Matt from Retrospect played Rocket Royale with Timbathy and Memory. It should be noted that Retrospect did participate in Rocket Royale with Snaski, but then played PLL with Retrospect last night. Not sure what that was all about, but as it stands, Lucky Bounce is still in search of a third member.

Foresight

Roster: Genocop, Chrome, KyleMasc

Foresight drop 2 spaces this week mainly due to Momentum and Retrospect moving up the rankings. The results for Foresight this week were generally uninspiring this week losing to Goomba Squad (1-2) in the PPL Qualifiers as well as losing 1-3 to Genesis and 1-2 to Exodus in Rocket Royale. Other than that there wasn’t much to report other than Foresight defeating teams outside the top 10. Given their low position in the power rankings and the emergence of Literally and other teams on the bubble they will need to start picking results against top 10 teams to help secure their ranking. Although with how long these three guys have been on the scene I believe they can rise to the challenge.

EngineerAdamG

2 EZ

Roster: Ostyn, EyeIgnite, Toxic, Kxnetic

While it is known that EyeIgnite won't be returning to the 2 EZ roster as of a recent tweet, the results that we have accrued in the past week have still had him on the roster. Just something to keep in mind. In the past week, 2 EZ didn't get any results that put them ahead of the curve to try and make it seem like they had a strong footing on the #10 position. The only recorded stats we had is in the GSCL where they lost to Exodus 0-3, and when they had Torment in as a sub for RR. 2 EZ really needs to ramp it up in order to stay within our top 10 because we have seen a huge surge in performance with the teams on the bubble, and what they have going for them is an impressive 3-1 win over Momentum from 2 weeks ago in the GSCL. I'll be completely honest in saying that I don't have much material to write from as 2 EZ's current roster seems to be in limbo, they're likely to try out some new members such as Torment, and there's a clear difference in results from the top 1-9 and that #10 position. 2 EZ has done it before, so they can definitely reseat themselves into the rankings, but time is currently not on their side.
