eu Power Rankings {7/5/16 - 7/12/16}

Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

We Dem Girlz

Roster: Remkoe, gReazy, Maestro

We Dem Girlz played in quite a few tournaments last week. Starting with Thursday's GFinity where they whackamoled all the way to the finals without losing a single match, including a 3-0 over Team ENJOY. In the finals they faced Supersonic Avengers, but they were more of a minor inconvenience, since WDG won 4-1. On Friday they did exactly the same thing except they faced Mock-It in the finals. This time WDG won 4-2 instead.

And finally, in RLCS, We Dem Girlz beat Shoot N Goal 4-1 and Mock-It 4-1, but faced their first loss of RLCS vs. Flipsid3 Tactics where they were beaten 3-2. This result has divided the power ranking commitee and caused absolute chaos within our discussions. Tables were flipped, chairs were thrown, and fellowships were broken. Who is really #1 in Europe?

Flipsid3 Tactics

Roster: Markydooda, Kuxir97, M1k3rules, mye_bipod_4shor

Once again the boys from Flipsid3 Tactics had their only tournament participation be RLCS but they weren't any slackers. They swept all of their series en route to the #1 spot in group stage. They got expected wins over The Flying Dutchmen and Aeriality (both 4-1 wins) along with a close win over We Dem Girlz 3-2 in what's the tug-of-war for the #1 EU seed and #1 EU Power Ranking spot.

Mock-it eSports EU

Roster: Paschy90, Turbopolsa, Sikii

Mock It had a pretty damn solid time this week, and really pushed themselves in the all important skipping race against Supersonic Avengers. After SA got off to a strong lead, with a quick burst of speed from beating Mock It in Gfinity 3-2, they tripped over their rope and allowed a soaring Mock It to catch up with them by losing 2-3 in RLCS. When they were nearing the finish line, they were neck and neck, SA knew they’d had the results from the past few weeks to keep them level, but Mock It’s series against WDG and F3 were a damn sight better than SA’s. The speed the two were running at was ridiculous, they both looked like a pair of gracefully flowing baboons, but SA was concentrating far too much on the finish line, and Mock It made sure to keep theirs eyes on their feet, Mock It jumped over the little rock in their way, and SA took a tumble over Aeriality, they lost 2-3 and Mock It was able to bound over the finish line. Mock It looked back, they felt a moment's pity, but they knew in the next skipping race, SA would be back with a brand new rap… and you know, be good at skipping and RL and stuff.

Supersonic Avengers

Roster: ELMP, Snaski, Doomsee, Kasabi

Supersonic Avengers drop a place this week, falling behind Mock-it EU once again. We saw somewhat of a resurgence from Mock-it, as their form improves, couple this with SA not having the most impressive week and it’s clear Mock-it are the better team right now. There are a fair few results to go off this week for SA. They played in the Thursday Gfinity in which their notable games were 3-2 against C&J, 3-2 against Mock-it EU and 1-4 to WDG. The result against C&J was perhaps slightly closer than it should have been but the win against Mock-it is good, and does contradict the rankings somewhat.

These results came before RLCS however, where a clearer picture emerged. SA had to finish in the top 4 of the groups in order to stand any chance of making the LAN finals for RLCS. They did so, but not without some close calls. They first lose 2-3 to Mock-it EU but then crucially lose 2-3 to Aeriality as well, a team they should certainly not be losing to. This made things interesting in the group standings as TFD, just below them, were bolstered by a 5-0 win over Comrade Gaming. This meant that going into the final round of games SA were actually a game behind TFD, and so had to beat them in series which they would then play. If they did not, TFD would qualify ahead of SA to the LAN finals there and then.

The series was incredibly close but in the end SA managed to get the job done, winning 3-2 and just barely keeping their hopes alive for LAN qualification. However, in order to achieve such a goal, they will need to beat both F3 and WDG in best of 7s in this coming weekend’s Online Finals due to the points differential between TFD and themselves. This is a task that is extremely unlikely, and a miracle will have to occur for them to qualify.

The Flying Dutchmen

Roster: Dogu, Jessiepinkmaan, PauliepauINL, Vogan

The Flying Dutchman stuck with only RLCS this week with very mixed results. Their first match was vs. Flipsid3 Tactics where TFD they lost 4-1. Then they played Comrade Gaming and made mince meat with them. After they finished cooking, The Flying Dutchmen beat Comrade 5-0. No sweat. Finally, it was the big one. The be all end all. One of the most important matches in Rocket League history: The Flying Dutchmen Vs. Supersonic Avengers. It was the final game for both teams and due to their current standings, whomever won the match would take the 4th spot in the online finals. It wasnt to be for The Flying Dutchmen in this case however, since Supersonic Avengers won 3-2. However, thanks to their 5th spot finish in both Q1 and Q2, the only way The Flying Dutchmen won't make the LAN is if Supersonic Avengers take 1st place in this Sunday's online finals.

Crown & Jewels

Roster: Sebadam, Flarke, Scrub Killa

Crown & Jewels might as well have been named GFinity winners this past week. They took home the win in the first two GFinity tournaments and Top 4 in the last two tournaments of the week. Their most significant GFinity results were victories over Team ENJOY and The Flying Dutchmen but losses to Mock-it eSports EU and Supersonic Avengers.

This squad has been twiddling their fingers ever since their exit from RLCS qualifiers and keep trying to prove that they deserved to be one of the teams in Group Stage.

Roster: Piksel, Continuum, Kaydop

Aeriality came into week 1 of groups, and were looking great from their qualifying run, something akin to the idea of picking up and cuddling a cute platypus. When they played, it looked like the reality of picking up a cute platypus, he’ll bloody cut you with a spur and give you one of the most painful poisons the world has ever known. So they were coming into week 2 looking a bit sketchy, but they really shot out of their cone… akin to a cone snail spearing a fish at 100 mph with its spear type thingy. They speared the little clownfish that was Shoot and Goal, beating them 5-0, and were even able to win a hard fight over one of the bigger fish in the sea, by beating SA 3-2. They were eventually pulled out of their shell by a slimy squid-y Flipside by losing 1-4, which was a sad end to a great week, but it really showed promise to the cute young cone snail, and maybe it can survive and jump back in its shell and spear more teams.

Comrade Gaming

Roster: O.S.P., Juuksey

Poor Comrade, they didn't stand much of a chance this RLCS with so many heavy teams in the groups, but they fought hard! Their first match was vs. The Flying Dutchmen where they were absolutely ruined 5-0. Whilst TFD are considered the better team, a 5-0 defeat was quite surprising. Next up they faced Mock-It, and it didn't get much better, where they lost 4-1. However, they went out with a bang after beating Shoot N Goal 4-1! They finish this RLCS Qualifier with 9-26 and take home 7th place. However, after RLCS was over, Lunation left the team and is now taking time off from professional Rocket League.

JJJ Squad

Roster: Krazack, JHZER, Ryuk

JJJ Squad had an expected result this week by taking Top 4 in the one GFinity they played but lost to an unexpected team. During their GFinity run they didn't face much competition until they faced a relatively unknown team by the name of "kden" which turned out to be a close affair where JJJ Squad lost the series 2-3 (which could be tainted by the fact that one of their members had rubber banding issues).

Nonetheless, JJJ Squad still have the quality players to keep their Top 10 spot as long as they competing in tournaments.

Roster: Bluey, Deevo

Savage! are a brand new team to the rankings this week and consist currently of Deevo, former Eff0rt player, and Bluey, former Gentlemen player. They’re as of yet without an official third yet so we’ll see in the upcoming weeks who they choose to settle with. It would appear however that they’re playing a fair bit with Stocki, so we’ll see what comes of that. Results-wise it was their run in ESL which proved most impressive, taking out a one-time revived team of The 3 Musketeers (Ryuk, Krazack and ViolentPanda). Back during their peak, they were a top 6 team so this 3-0 result from Savage! against them in the final holds quite some value for a new team like themselves.

They did also play in a Gfinity tournament but didn’t have much success, losing 1-3 to eXtatus. Their ranking of 10th is more or less a speculative one as they haven’t yet played many games, and is also as a result of so many teams disbanding right now. There are very few established teams once you get past the top 7 or 8, therefore expect a lot of change week to week in the lower half of the top 16 as new teams form from all the free agents in the scene.
