eu Power Rankings {10/5/15 - 10/12/15}

Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

Flipsid3 Tactics

Roster: M1k3rules, Markydooda, kuxir97

Despite my urges to stick this cheeky European team into dead last for M1k3rules' emote OF MY FACE on his Twitch channel, I will relent and instead talk about how the team that decided to take a week off from ESL still came out looking superior at the Gfinity tournament on Friday. There's no denying that the throne atop Europe is warmed by the collective butts of Flipsid3 Tactics, but Swarm is still hot on their heels. Its safe to say that the only match that will ultimately decide if Swarm has what it takes to overtake Flipsid3 is a full-strength, tournament game. But until then, your Kings of EU Rocket League remain Flipsid3 Tactics.

Swarm Gaming

Roster: paschy90, de_boer_bros, stocki1997

I’m from Texas, and here in Texas we have a legend of a place called The Alamo we hold dear to our heart. Well, paschy90 and stocki1997 had their own Rocket League Alamo over the weekend. Waiting for The Gambit reinforcements that were to never arrive, they courageously plunged into Rocket League combat, 2v3 (a version of the game I will heretofore call “doing the Gambit”). Besting several top teams, alas, their magical run came to an end in the semifinals, against Supersonic Avengers. Watching them in this tournament was honestly as much fun as I’ve ever had viewing a team, simply because they were so giddy about every little success they managed to scrape by with, but also struggled to keep their spirits up with each goal against. There had to be at least 2 to 3 come from behind victories, down 2 goals in the last minute, then tie to send it in to overtime, where they’d come away with the victory. Both r16 and the quarterfinals went to 5 games. They showed a lot of heart in this series. I should mention, they also fell to Team Rocket in Gfinity without their full roster, in Team Rocket’s storm to the Gfinity finals in their other tournament appearance. This week they have 4 important events 4 days in a row - Gfinity on Friday, MLG Pro League playoffs on Saturday, RocketRoyale on Sunday, and ESL September Monthly Finals on Monday. It will be interesting to see how they do in all of those. Hopefully fewer 2v3s aka ”The Gambits” this week.

Team Shazoo

Roster: Oneill_clan, Vogan, Skyline, Meeps

It seems that since Oneill has returned to Shazoo, it's taken a little bit of extra time for the trio to really find the step that they had with meepS in the lineup. However, they should certainly not be taken lightly, as it feels like with each event that passes, Shazoo becomes more and more formidable and climbs ever closer to the goals we've all seemed to set for them. While they managed to place 3rd in a very unusual ESL bracket this week, I think Shazoo still has areas of opportunity to work on if they plan on challenging for those top two spots.

Team Rocket

Roster: Cole, Doomsee, I Am A Tree

Team Rocket are a team you love to watch play but sometimes it’s tough to watch them play in tournaments. This week, with sub Noir1992 filling in for Cole, they showed us why they stick around the top of the rankings when they had to beat some tough competition during Gfinity, notably wins against Swarm and Shazoo. Only time will tell if it leads up to even stronger showings in future ESL/Gfinity tournaments and for Team Rocket to blast off again into the finals or sputter out in a whiff of smoke early on in tournaments.

Roster: YemenTheCountry, Dadooh, x3mw

If there could ever be a more proper team name for a team with Yemen on it, it's Complain. But regardless of the proper naming conventions, Complain emerged as the clearly dominant team in ESL this past week in a field that didn't feature Flipsid3 Tactics and a Swarm squad that literally played every series 2v3. While a true test for Complain will come with all the usual faces involved, the showing they made shouldn't be ignored, taking out SupersonicStars, Team Shazoo, and Supersonic Avengers all in one day. While Yemen is a familiar face to many, the player who emerged as quite the force to be reckoned with was X3MW, all supported by a very defensively sound Dadoo. I'm not sure what to expect going forward, but I can't complain about Complain.

Roster: xGodLiightx, Killerno7, SikiiCEM

The trade that happened a couple of weeks ago bringing SikiiCEM to the lineup looks like it's gone just fine for Euronics, but it didn’t prevent them from getting eliminated in Round of 16 during ESL. This team can definitely jump back up to the Top 3 in our power rankings, but the competition in the EU pro scene keeps getting even more intense throughout the weeks, with multiple teams climbing up the ranks and impressing us. We shall see how they can do in MLG and show why they were #3 last week.

Supersonic Avengers

Roster: sfexbest, ELMP, onno_ole

Sfex3best, ELMP, and onno_ole bested the Swarming duo in the semifinals of ESL, winning 3-1 in the series, before falling to Complain 4-2 in an exciting finals. It’s a shame they’re not moving up further after a stellar performance, but with so many top teams missing, and Swarming “doing the Gambit” it was tough to put together quality wins, even while making to the finals. Still, very good job from an always solid squad. These guys are reliable top 10 material for as long as they can stay together and keep active.

Teamus Weamus

Roster: Wrong_Way_Woody, AFN1910, eLLooN, GBM_RevolutioN, UKscottUK

Ah, the team that always seems to be floating around the bottom half of the power rankings stays there another week! They're at this ranking primarily due to the round 1 exit in Gfinity (due to internet issues which made them down a player), but subsequently making to the quarter-finals of ESL, only to lose to Shazoo - which is nothing to laugh about. I’m hopeful there are better Gfinity results in their near future. This team is still getting better but with a roster of their size constantly rotating players it’s hard to tell when they are on their A game.

Nice One Team

Roster: BruTzZ, Ganorph, gReazy, Sputosky

I find myself consistently impressed with Nice One Team. While they may suffer a fault for losing in a 2v3 against Swarm Gaming this week, so did a lot of teams, and I think that Nice One Team just needs to regroup and fight forward again. They seem to be a consistently productive team still on the hunt for that one big win, and if they can regularly play with their usual roster more regularly, we should see much more out of N1CE than we have lately.

Roster: Linkuru, Anduru, D3tin

Linkuru’s YouMyZero outfit could probably rank higher if they were able to find a way to compete in another tournament outside of Gfinity with their full squad. As it is, we’re glad to see them as often as we do. This week they gave Flipsid3 their closest match-up in Gfinity on Friday, even though they ended up succumbing in straight sets 3-0. Flipsid3 was simply on fire, not losing a single game the entire tournament. Another consistent top 10 team, the opposition knows they have their work cut out for them when YouMyZero is in the bracket.
