eu Power Rankings {4/27/16 - 5/4/16}

Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

We Dem Girlz

Roster: Remkoe, gReazy, Maestro

If you look up consistency in the dictionary, I’m pretty sure you’d find a Pepe alongside gReazy, Maestro and remkoe. We Dem Girlz has been an absolute revelation over the last month, having taken on all comers and clearly established themselves as the number one team in Europe. In all honestly, the power rankings committee has been straining its vocabulary trying to find new ways to describe just how good We Dem Girlz are. They have worked out a high-pressure, rotational system that gives no quarter and they have shown time and again that they can work that system to perfection. Where many teams find they overcommit players to the ball, WDG has reached a new level of communication and rarely finds itself out of place. A quick roll call of We Dem Girlz’ victims this week: Ka-Pow, Mock-It (EU), The Flying Dutchmen, Supersonic Avengers (twice!), as well as Onslaught (formerly Retrospect) and the Kings of Urban. With results like these, consistently over time they show signs of staying on top of the power rankings for some time to come

Mock-it eSports EU

Roster: Paschy90, Miztik, Sikii, Scrub Killa

Mock-it secures another Friday Gfinity where they're generally always at their best; however, it seems that when it comes to Rocket Royale or even MIL tournaments, they're not pulling at full strength. This last RR they just barely got by the group stage where they took a less than expected set loss to C&J. While they did pull a bit more in the knockouts, they just couldn't knock down the ever persistent WDG in game 5. Even though the did take 1 unexpected loss as a 1-2 vs Precision Z, they were able to otherwise prove in more than just numbers as to why they are to stay in the top 2 for EU. Despite being early in the week, theres' a ton of action to follow, and I believe that Mock-it EU will be leading the way for most of it, and just might be able to finally grab a win against WDG which will be coming up on them extremely soon.

Supersonic Avengers

Roster: ELMP, Snaski, Doomsee

It was a bit of a mixed bag for Supersonic Avengers this week. They entered a multitute of tournaments and did...alright I suppose. To start with, in Tuesday's GFinity they made their way to the semi-finals where they were taken out 3-0 by Operion, after beating both Eff0rt and Back Pass Boys. It was a rather unexpected result, but since I have the inside scoop, I do know that this tournament was taken as a cool-off for SA, rather than with an all-out "let's win it" mentality. How on earth could I possibly know such information!? In the next GFinity on Friday, they RG eSports 3-0, but then lost 3-2 to KA-POW shortly after in a dramatic reverse sweep. Ouch. So it's not looking to great for Supersonic Avengers so far, but fear not, because they sucked just a little less by the end of the week. In the infamous Sunday Rocket Royale they lost 2-1 to We Dem Girlz, beat The Flying Dutchmen 3-0 and then beat KA-POW 2-1 (REVENGE!) in the group stages, which finished them 2nd as they moved on to the next round. Here they faced Precision Z, and beat them 3-1, moving them to the internation finals, where they faced Kings of Urban, and lo and behold they beat them 3-0! Oh man, what a victory! I mean, with clear evidence like that, there's no way Kings of Urban could possibly do better than Supersonci Avengers in this tournament! Next, SA lost 3-0 to We Dem Girlz (of course they did), which moved them to the losers bracket to face...Kings of Urban. Oh, then they lost 3-2. Awkward. It was pretty close though! This meant that SA finished 3rd and ended their week of tournaments. So, all in all it was a bit...messy. They lost to a few teams ranked below them which isn't great, but they did beat some teams ranked just below them, and combined with the fact that the teams below them haven't quite done enough to warrant being put above SA, they stay in 3rd for this week. Supersonic Avengers have hit a point where their improvement is slowing down and they're trying to finalise how they play together. They're an incredibly inconsistent team, so it's honestly hard to say how well they'll do in the upcoming RLCS and where they'll be in the future. But I have hope, because they have Doomsee. I heard that guy is super rad.

Flipsid3 Tactics

Roster: Markydooda, Kuxir97, M1k3rules

There's not a whole lot to build upon from what I said last week. FlipSid3 only participated in one tournament this week and it just about went as expected: a 3-0 win over Team_letim and a 1-3 loss against Mock-it EU. There could be arguments saying that their lack of playing (ie taking a break) could be seen as a good thing, giving them some time off from RL, and then again we could look at it saying that they really need to buckle down, practice, and restart with a fresh and controlled mindset. This week is the big test, the set up to the question that we've been wondering: "Is FlipSid3 ever going to be as dominant as they used to be?", "What will happen to the roster after RLCS?", "Will Kuxir97 ever talk?"... tune in next time for another episode of... err what I mean to say is that we there's a lot questions hanging around the name FlipSid3 and there's not a whole lot of time before we really get to know the fate of F3.

Crown & Jewels

Roster: Killerno7, Yeezy, Stocki, ViolentPanda, Rocketpower

Crown & Jewels had a very interesting week, riddled with some good results along with the bad. More intriguing than their results (at least to a guy like me) was the variety of rosters that they played with: In the EU Mock-It tournament Stocki, ViolentPanda and HeavY came dressed as a team named “I Thought This Was Speed Dating”, beating Eff0rt (2-0), Precision Z (2-1), and The Flying Dutchment (twice: 3-2 and 4-2). Later, in ESL action, Crown & Jewels wore their own kit fielding Stocki, HeavY and X3MW. They ran into a hot Unrivaled team (who ended up winning ESL) and were bumped in the round of 16. Crown & Jewels also participated in both GFinity events, (I was unfortunately unable to nab their rosters before the brackets were removed from their site on either day). On Tuesday they swept Unrivaled (3-0), and went on to also sweep Operion (the very team that defeated Supersonic Avengers) to win that tournament. On Friday they again defeated Unrivaled (3-1), but ended up with a disappointing loss against #12 Absolution in the quarter finals. Their troubles continued in Rocket Royale, where they were defeated 2-1 by #7 Precision Z. Their later 2-1 loss to Mock-It (EU) was enough for them to place 3rd in their Bracket, ending their run in the Rocket Royale. With such a variety of rosters it’s hard to make heads or tails of anything. Their victory over Hyperion implies that they should be rated above SA, but at the same time they’ve lost the #12 and #7 teams. SA’s loss to Hyperion reflects more poorly on SA than it reflects well on C&J, here, and with the mixed results I couldn’t move this team above any of the top 4 teams in EU. It is worth noting though that C&J seems like they may soon have enough players to field two teams at once, and I’m curious to see what’s coming up next for that group.

KA-POW

Roster: al0t, Sniperkid138, Turbopolsa

As with pretty much every team in the rankings this week, Kapow remain in the position they were last week, and in fact many weeks prior. There hasn’t been enough results to warrant either a rise or fall in the rankings. Looking at the specific results, they had a number of close series this week. In Friday’s Gfinity they won 3-2 against Dot Dot Dot, a team I believe to be quite underrated, and then took out SA 3-2, quite an impressive result. The game following, they lost 1-3 to Mockit EU, somewhat expected given Mockit’s current form. In Rocket Royale all results were as expected as well, with them narrowly defeating The Flying Dutchmen (albeit Kapow were losing with seconds remaining). Then against SA they lost 1-2, and 0-3 to WDG. Nothing out of the ordinary. Looking forward it’s difficult to judge the movement of this team. They certainly have some fairly good results in them against the teams above them now and then, but this is unfortunately countered but some weird performances to teams below them. In general however they’re beating teams below them and losing to the teams above them. Depending on the consistency of their future results I could possibly see them climbing above C&J, but doubt they will fall at all, barring any major flops. Going into RLCS, I don’t have too much concern for Kapow. They will likely come against Comrade and Flipsid3 in their upper bracket (assuming no upsets), and if they lose to Flipsid3, they just have to beat one team, which could be any of LMR, eff0rt or Dot Dot Dot, in order to make the group stage. None of these should be too much trouble for them.

Precision Z

Roster: Tequilaz, Mikageishi, Dadooh

T'was quite a good week for Precision Z, racking up plenty of wins for themselves. Some notable wins include a 2-1 vs. Crown & Jewels and a 2-1 Vs. Mock-It eSports in Rocket Royale, where they ended up facing Supersonic Avengers in the knockout stage, and were unfortunately knocked out 3-1. In GFinity they beat the upcoming JJJ Sqaud 3-1, but then lost to I Cee You 3-2. "Who on earth are those teams?" I hear you ask. Perhaps you'll find out soon enough. In other news that's also the same news, during Mock-It League, Precision Z lost 2-1 to Crown & Jewels. It seemed to be a nice week for Precision Z, strenghting their current #7 spot, and if they keep this up I reckon they could tussle to the top of their #5 - #7 group. I have noticed some improvement in their squad lately, so we shall see if this continues, because if you look up, there's a lot of fantastic teams above them. I mean have you seen Supersonic Avengers!? What a sexy team they are.

Doomsee

The Flying Dutchmen

Roster: Dogu, Jessiepinkmaan, PauliepaulNL, Vogan

This week is Dutchmen’s 3rd week in a row at #8 in the rankings and that’s not necessarily a good sign. While they performed well in the Mock-it EU tournament, lack of results elsewhere held them back from advancing higher in the rankings. In Rocket Royale they dropped all of their sets in group stage which was to be expected because they were the lowest ranked team in their group. On Friday’s GFinity they fell to #12 ranked team Absolution in 3 games in round 3 which would have helped their standing in the Top 10 and possibly could have allowed them to jump up a rank. ESL was a similar story, Dutchmen (with Chausette subbing) managed to get past Eff0rt – still #10 ranked team – but fell to JJJ squad when they brought on RingTelefonRing to sub in for Jessie. Recently I haven’t been too convinced of the lower ranked part of the rankings but teams are slowly proving themselves capable, hopefully we can see these teams start winning more against their higher rated peers.

MrLittleThor

Hard-On Colliders

Roster: Aeleksander, Jayless, Reteq

For me, this team is only holding onto 9th place this week due to the shortcomings of the teams behind them in the rankings as over this past week or two they’ve not looked the same team that got them into the top 10 in the first place. Their only notable game this week came against the team Hitmen, who feature right on the edge of the bubble. They lost this 1-3 and it does make me question whether their hot streak of results over a 2 or 3 week period is slowly cooling off. We will have to assess their resilience over the next week as we draw ever closer to the start of the RLCS. Going into that big qualifier on Sunday they certainly do not carry much momentum and from various Twitter posts from players, they appear somewhat disgruntled with the situation currently. This qualifier will prove crucial for them as a team, to see whether they can still be considered a top 10 team in Europe. Failure to make the group stages may not be fatal for them, but it certainly will worsen the atmosphere of the team moving forward. With teams behind them like Unrivalled, Absolution, eff0rt and Comrade looking more potent as teams right now, it may not be long until they fall out of the top 10.

Eff0rt

Roster: Tinny, Cheerio, kilEak, Dave

In the week of teams sticking at the same rankings as the previous week, eff0rt find themselves to be pretty lucky that teams that were nipping at their heels didn’t get as many quality results to leapfrog over them. That being said, they probably had some of the tougher competition when it came to their results. In Tuesday’s GFinity they lost to #3 ranked Supersonic Avengers and in Friday’s GFinity they lost to “I Cee You” who wound up making it to the finals. When it came to Mock-it EU tournament they beat Mockingbirds 2-0 and lost out to Mock-it EU in the following round which caused them to also lose out in the Loser’s bracket to Drifters. Their true test was going to be ESL, this ESL had a large amount of the teams on the bubble trying to prove themselves worthy. While Eff0rt managed to beat “I Cee You” in a revenge match they eventually fell to The Flying Dutchmen in the Round of 16. Eff0rt are going to need to keep trying to pull out quality results but there’s a plethora of teams that are fighting for even the 11-16 spots let alone the 9-10 spots on the rankings.
