Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

Cosmic Aftershock

Roster: Kronovi, Gibbs, Sadjunior

Cosmic Aftershock was the only top team to play in this week's ESL. With that, they handily won ESL with the help of Dirkened in the early rounds for Gibbs. CA did what they had to do to stay at the top spot. They also clinched the #1 seed going into the ESL Monthly Final. Sadjunior and Kronovi will be at TwitchCon this coming weekend, so this week Gibbs is wrangling together a team named Cosmic Afterhorse to shake up the ESL brackets.

vQ Untethered

Roster: Lachinio, Pluto, Vafele

After last week’s insta-classic 7 game heavyweight bout against CA, which finished with a 4-3 series win for CA --- punctuated by SadJunior’s electrifying 0:00 goal to send game two into OT, leading to the CA subsequent win, plus Gibbs’ overall stalwart defensive work --- vQ has imperceptibly slid from 1b to the #2 team. But make no mistake about it. These guys are threats to take back the top spot at a moment’s notice. Last week’s Kate Bosworth analogy may not have transformed into Rosie O’Donnell in terms of the difference between the teams, but she’s at least eaten a ham sammich. We probably won’t see the two face each other until they close out the MLG Pro League regular Season 1 on October 1, so vQ looks like a solid #2 until then.

Kings of Urban

Roster: Gambit, Fireburner, KyleMasc

After the beat down they received last night from Swarm Gaming people may think these guys need to move down. Luckily for KOU, they scrimmed and performed well against CA and vQ. Of course scrims are not the real thing but it did show that their skill is still on another level compared to the teams below them. Hopefully we get to see more of them in the coming weeks.

Orange Creamsicle

Roster: Edwind, Quinn Lobdell, Enigma_Please

Possibly the most entertaining at in game cheeky banter, if you’re following a stream that’s featuring them as one of the teams, make sure to keep an eye on the upper left most corner. OC didn’t play this week, but expect to be back in the ESL swing of things this coming Sunday. I don’t know if they’ll get a chance to take a crack at any of the big 3, what with CA not competing, and vQ + KOU’s ESL status unknown. If that’s true, anything less than an ESL tournament championship would be a disappointment. No pressure!

DeVoid Gaming

Roster: zOctanez, TvLow5ive, cougycougs, FicklePlatypus

I’ve watched as much of DeVoid Gaming (formerly Mad Magic) this week as any other team. Nothing against fickle_platypus, but they’re simply a different squad when cougycougs is out there. Not only cougycougs’ stellar play, but it just feels like low5ive and his voice changer, plus zOctanez and his special 16 yo ways (as identified by low5ive in their scrim against vQ), are able to truly shine in their roles when cougycougs is directing traffic to some extent. They surprised Perfect Storm last Thursday night. After going down 0-2, they roared back to win the next 4 games to take the edge in a potential battle for the 4th playoff spot in the MLG Pro League. I also saw them look strong in the GameBattles tourney on Saturday night, losing to Cosmic Aftershock, but taking a game in a best of 5 series. With cougycougs playing regularly with them, they should be able to push Orange Creamsicle, Perfect Storm, Titanium Ricochet, and anyone else who emerges for that 4th spot. Without him --- or if he ends up not being able to dedicate the time necessary to keep up with the development of competitors --- to me they often look more like a peripheral top ten team.

Perfect Storm

Roster: UsedWolf, Jacob, Elmirfudd

Perfect Storm drops a spot this week due to a few key losses to DeVoid Gaming (previously known as Mad Magic), Titanium Ricochet, & Double Tap. While sporting a solid line-up of Jacob (lead scorer), UsedWolf, & ElmirFudd, lately they've seemed to be in a bit of flux with finding a consistent play-style. When they are aggressive on offense they are tough to take down, but when pushed to more of a defensive / patient play-style they tend to struggle. They'll have some crucial matches coming up against Swarm Gaming [EU] and Kings of Urban in the MLG Pro League to finish out the season. This is the perfect time for this squad to catch fire, make a playoff push, and take the competition by storm.

Titanium Ricochet

Roster: Cazaz911, Klassux, WaZe_One87

While I’d prefer to see KOU and vQ Untethered compete in ESL (and I think it’s a detriment to them competitively if they don’t even while I understand the reasons for it) one of the advantages of fewer top teams participating is I get to experience a team like Titanium Ricochet rocket boost to the finals. I cannot express how much fun I had watching klassixlive’s stream. With SARPBC vet waZe_One87 as a sort of field general, cazaz911 as striker, and klassux as a cheerleader on steroids, their positivity and boisterous spirit was infectious. They looked great against Team Meme and Perfect Storm, while even taking a game from Cosmic Aftershock in the finals. If you want to see the poster child for a positive team comms, I recommend you take a visit to klassixlive’s twitch stream and/or VODs of their tournament play. But...turn your volume down before you do so. Just a helpful suggestion. “Let’s go!” indeed, klassux.

Double Tap

Roster: Flow, Jamesbot, Pulse696, Sir PancakeIII

Double Tap continues to prove that they are not just a one-hit wonder as they cleared the way for their best finish yet, taking 3rd place in last Sunday's ESL Cup #8. Though this squad has seen a few line-up & name changes, their trajectory to the upper echelon of Rocket League teams has never wavered. Taking out Perfect Storm & Air Force Two, this group continues to impress and move their way further up into the Power Rankings. They took a hard loss from Cosmic Aftershock with none of the games being blow-outs, but also not being very close either. They're currently in the running for that #4 spot, but will need to continue beating the other teams also vying for that position and work on closing the gap with the top tier squads if they want to move up any higher.

Doesn’t Matter

Roster: caNoNjj, Kalikovision, Mech, STACED_GOD, xNeks

Doesn't Matter has further proven the irony of their team name as this squad has moved up from my "Team To Watch" list to the #9 spot in this week's Power Ranking, showing that they do indeed matter. Taking out both Super Party Waterpark (a team that has been on the bubble for a few weeks) & Venenum (Gibbs' "Team To Watch" for this week), this group did just enough to narrowly squeeze into the Top 10. An early loss this week, though, could be enough to drop them. So, if they want to extend their stay, they'll need to continue beyond the ESL QuarterFinals & start taking out some of the teams currently ranked above them.

Team Meme

Roster: n1k, p3rf3ct0, Sinta Claws, Vypur

The amount of skill on this team is TOO DAMN HIGH. If Team Meme sold shirts many fans would be yelling "TAKE MY MONEY." But you know what really GRINDS MY GEARS? Not being able to see their matches this week. They didn't have too many impressive wins but they did battle with Perfect Storm this week losing 1-3. These guys have been consistently playing well, while other teams....well have not. They get the 10 spot for now but its anyone's game down here.
