Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

Kings of Urban

Roster: Fireburner, Jacob, Moses

Kings of Urban are looking to put last week behind them as they get ready for the RLC Playoffs. With 3 key losses to Europe teams this week, NA's biggest hope for success in the RLC Playoffs looks worse than before. KOU lost to a variation of Supersonic Avengers (0-2) and Crown & Jewels (0-1) in the Mock-IT League tournament. They also lost to Noble (1-3) in the IRCL playoffs. They did find success against Failure to Launch (1-0) in Mock-IT though which puts them strongly at #1 in NA. They also did beat a variation of Flipsid3 Tactics (2-1) which is always a big feat. Kings of Urban as well as the whole NA scene need to put some work in to challenge the very competitive EU scene at the moment. A weekend like this might be just what the doctor ordered for KOU. No more celebrating about being #1 in NA, now it’s time to prove that NA is very competitive against EU.

Roster: Lachinio, Vafele, Pluto

If there’s one word I would associate with Untethered lately it’s momentum and with it they’ve earned themselves the #2 spot once again, only this time they share the distinction with no one. Untethered took the momentum from their 4-1 win against iBP Cosmic from Week 7 of RLC Pro League into Mock-It and faired well beating a modified myXMG (Turbopolsa and Sniperkid138 teamed up with Miztik--formerly of Spectral) (2-0) and Mock-It eSports (2-1) before falling to Crown & Jewels (1-2). In the Losers Bracket, Untethered dispatched Complain (1-0), but then lost to Failure to Launch (0-1). When the dust settled, they finished in an ambiguous tie for 7th with Mock-It (the team) in Mock-It (the tournament). Looming on an ever-approaching horizon for Untethered, however, is Round One of the RLC Pro League Playoffs where they will face the historically dream-destroying titans of FlipSid3 Tactics. They’re undoubtedly up for the challenge and I cannot wait to see them give their all against the best.

Roster: Kronovi, Sadjunior, Gibbs

iBP are the epitome of a love hate relationship right now. There's no doubt that Cosmic is one of the definitive fan favorites, but there has been a very noticeable decline in their historic dominance. Now, we all witnessed the 1-4 loss to Untethered last week, and despite it being with the sub Amoney it was pretty clear that there was a missing spark between Kronovi and Sadjunior that we are so used to seeing. Coming up a week later, and they have not caught back up with success in their attempts at the MIL showdowns. Personally, I hardly hold any weight on a one and done because even F3 loses game 1 to unknown teams, but man is it disappointing to see them fall out after 4 matches. So while I hate to see Cosmic struggle for wins in tournaments, I love the thought of an explosive comeback in the playoffs this Sunday.

Double Tap

Roster: Digital, Espeon, Jamesbot

Double Tap came out swinging this weekend. They beat C&J 3-2 in games but tied in sets 1-1. Unfortunately for them the loss came in the loser's bracket which gave them 3rd while C&J went on to win Mockit. On their way to C&J they also took out their neighbors in the rankings, Failure To Launch, in a close 2-1 set. Double Tap earned the spot ahead of FTL because of the amount of work they did this weekend. After Mockit they competed in ESL and lost to Turbulence's (1-4) new roster in the finals. A third place in Mockit and a second place in ESL really show these guys are working hard trying to improve. I expect these guys to work hard for the RLCS slots that have just been announced!

Failure To Launch

Roster: Genocop, Zanejackey, HotWheelsSid

Failure to Launch have quietly made a solid name for themselves over the past couple of months and even more so over the past few weeks. The 5-0 over Apollo 11 from 2 weeks ago is still holding as a very impressive showing, but they've also added some wins in the MIL tourney over this past week that are further helping their cause. Best of 1s are not something that I can give a lot of credence to, but they certainly don't hurt a team's standing. It will be very interesting to see how FtL's high velocity / controlled defensive style matches up against Crown & Jewels in the RLC Pro League Playoffs this weekend. They may not be the odds on favorite to win, but I certainly think they are a dark horse and should not be overlooked.

VexX Gaming

Roster: Jayyyrah, Garrett, Turtle

Sporting a new lineup this week with Garrett joining from the recently-disbanded Foremost, Turbulence stabilized their poor form over the last couple weeks with an absolute tear through Sunday's ESL. Losing only a total of two games, one each to 2ARC and Double Tap, this squad seems to have fixed their consistency issues. Garrett has provided a solid base and produced the spark to really capitalize on the offensive potential of Jayyyrah and Turtle, and the overall chemistry between these three was no match for their closely ranked opponents this week. While their run was an impressive turnaround from their recent lackluster results, the new lineup will need to show their consistency with another good result this weekend. We've seen Turbulence light up ESL before, but they can't risk another early exit if they want to finally push past teams like Double Tap and Failure to Launch. This weekend should provide some solid match-ups to prove their worth, and if Turbulence continues to trounce the competition, they'll find themselves flying smoothly on the top.

Roster: Finesse Greg, Kazoo, SteveGates

2ARC were unfortunately victims to the Turbulence steamroller last weekend, though they were one of only two teams to steal a win to prevent a nearly flawless run. An incredibly consistent squad over these past few weeks, they have unfortunately fallen to the ESL winner three times in a row. What they were able to accomplish this week however, was a triumphant 4-3 victory in their 3rd place rematch to last week's champion, Back That Pass Up. As the gap appears to be widening between emerging top teams and those destined to be fringe fodder, 2ARC finds themselves in a comfortable position, though they unfortunately lack games against the teams just above them. With Turbulence nipping at the heels of Double Tap and Failure to Launch, 2ARC needs to show that they belong in that pack, lest they become another team to leap frog over.

Orange Creamsicle

Roster: Edwind, Quinn Lobdell, Gambit

Orange Creamsicle didn't play this week and they also lost a member of their team. That leaves them in a pretty tough spot considering how the teams around them have fared in that same time span. Personally, I had them at 6 this week because I felt that FtL / DT had a better 2 week resume than OC did, but I don't want to drop OC unceremoniously for not playing in a week. Perhaps not ranking them at all this week would've been a better approach, but I'm not sure. They need to pick up a teammate and compete soon, though, or they won't be able to rest on the 3-2 they had over MIL 2 weeks ago.

Back That Pass Up

Roster: Chrome, Ping Pong Pete, Sad Koala

If you were worried that Back That Pass Up would waver in their consistency and fall out of the Top Ten, fret no more. For another week we get to continue discussing Rocket League’s best named team among the rest of the best in NA. After toppling 2ARC to take the title two tournaments ago, they finished 4th in ESL beating Hot Singles In Your Area (3-1), EthAerial Assassins (3-0), and Brace for Impact (3-0). They only lost to red-hot DoubleTap (1-3) and 2ARC only after taking them to a full seven game series for 3rd Place -- ultimately falling 3-4. Their consistency did falter in Mock-It, though, falling early to EthAerial Assassins (1-2). They then went on a small tear in the (best of 1) Losers Bracket beating such teams as Paranomics and Kairos along the way until being eliminated by ManTK. With the announcement of the RLCS and the inevitable influx of competition, now is the time for Back That Pass Up to solidify themselves as a top ten team and I see no reason why they couldn’t do so.

Kairos (Smelly Socks)

Roster: Dooble, Kovanel, Torment

Kairos, otherwise known as Smelly Socks (can't imagine why they ditched that name :P ) is plopping back down in the #10 position again, however, they really shouldn't get too comfortable. Let's just say that with the disbanding and rejoicing of a few teams, there are definitely some hot commodities ranked just below (above?) Kairos, so if they want to make it three weeks straight, they are really going to have to pull off some clutch wins against those ranked in the near vicinity. But let's not get down on these guys, because it was only just moments ago that they were doing just that!
