Welcome to the Rocket League Power Rankings!

Each week, our committee will be ranking the best teams based on a variety of criteria as well as providing commentary on the teams who make it into the Top 10. The committee is comprised of players, content creators, fans, analysts, & coordinators to help diversify opinions and come to a general consensus. Each committee member has their own method for determining team rankings (ranging from stat-tracking to instinct), but they only count for a single vote since the individual ranks are averaged together. Each member will also list a team that didn't quite make the Top 10, but they feel is on the rise and should be watched.

While we do our best to ensure that we are fair and impartial, it is important to remember that these are just opinions and will most likely change weekly. If you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please send them our way. We’d love to hear from you!

Cosmic Aftershock

Roster: Kronovi, Gibbs, Sadjunior

After several weeks of the whispers and doubts setting in regarding Cosmic Aftershocks seeming fall from indomitable grace, CA answered their skeptics in exultant fashion, knocking off interlopers vQ Untethered 4-3 in the ESL NA Sunday tournament, after falling behind 3-2. A reinvestment in team practice, and a new culture predicated on a more aggressive attacking style seems to be paying dividends for the moment.

vQ Untethered

Roster: Lachinio, Pluto, Vafele

Bolstered by the addition of PlutoniumFalcon (now known as Pluto/PlutoRL), vQ Untethered has vaulted from competing for #2 behind a once dominant CA, to now facing off against equals. The 3-0 dismantling of Kings of Urban on Saturday during the ESL August Championship Invitational followed by a 4-0 best of 7 skunking of a Kronovi-less CA, proved they are worthy of the elite title. The seven game instant classic against CA the next day in the ESL NA Sunday tournament proved that it’s anyone’s game when those two face off, and until KoU gets a chance to prove otherwise, there’s a bit of separation between 1a and 1b, to the #3 role.

Kings of Urban

Roster: Gambit, Fireburner, KyleMasc

While we didn’t factor it in the rankings, KOU showed why they’re a step above in the inaugural night for MLG Pro League, giving Mad Magic (sans their team captain, cougycoug) a 6-0 beat down. Outside of CA and Untethered, no team has shown the ability to take a series from these guys, while KOU has demonstrated they have what it takes to emerge victorious over the top two. Unfortunately, this is a “what have you done for me lately” type of power ranking, so they’ll need to do it again, after skipping out of the most recent ESL NA Sunday tournament, and suffering a relatively lopsided loss to vQ Untethered on Saturday.

Perfect Storm

Roster: Jacob, UsedWolf, Elmirfudd

These guys have blown up in the past couple of weeks. Composed of post SARPBC players, they went undefeated in the MLG Pro League qualifiers, then reached the ESL semifinals, only to lose to CA in straight sets. They’ll quickly get a chance to prove their mettle among big hitters when they face off against the EU Rocket League juggernaut, Flipsid3 Tactics, on Thursday night during their MLG Pro League debut. They’re adding Propulsion legend Elmirfudd to the lineup for MLG, although they’ll be using a different roster addition for ESL.

Air Force Two

Roster: DigDog22, NotValid, Dexnine

AF2 began competition in ESL as the clear #2 team after Cosmic Aftershock, making deep runs in the early tournaments. Over the past few weeks, their star didn’t fade, as much as it seemed not to appear in the sky at all. Led by Rocket League superstar DigDog22, they have recently reemerged as a force to still be reckoned with, qualifying for Pro League with a “revenge” victory over Octakumi. I’d like to see another deep ESL run like the days of yore, but with the competitive scene so closely packed together at this tier, Air Force Two emerges as our number 6.

Orange Creamsicle

Roster: Edwiind, Quinn Lobdell, Enigma_Please

Orange Creamsicle is another squad composed of post SARPBC players. They’ve been alerting me to pay closer attention to them, and this past ESL they backed their words with action, making it to the semifinals in the Sunday night tournament, before falling to powerhouse vQ Untethered 3-0. I especially noticed the friendly “banter” Orange Creamsicle employed during the match, adding some levity to games where the outcome was not really in doubt.

Dirty Donkeys

Roster: Menchaca, Drop_Shot_94, Maddawg_95

Dirty Donkeys seem to be in flux right now. Drop shot has announced his free agency while still playing with the team after their disappointing performance in the Pro League Qualifiers. This is still one of the most talented teams out there, but it seems the players may be heading in different directions. We will keep a close eye on DD to see if this team disbands or recruits new talent to spark the team full of energy once again.

Mad Magic

Roster: zOctanez, TvLow5ive, cougycougs, FicklePlatypus

The same with many of these teams, they’ve made relatively deep forays into the brackets for ESL Sunday, and they made it into the MLG Pro League debut, including a terrific win over our #7 team Dirty Donkeys, but they’re shocking early exit from Sunday’s ESL didn’t do them any favors. And while it’s not a heavy consideration in this ranking, last night’s 0-6 skunk against KoU, even without team captain cougycoug, didn’t do them any favors, either.

GoodFellas Alpha

Roster: Agent_Arenas23, TruSolja, tankrgh

As regular participants in the quarterfinals in ESL, and just missing out on the top 8 for the ESL August Invitational, GoodFellas are one of those squads that consistently beats up on the lesser teams, but is still looking for that one signature win which indicates they're a force to be reckoned with. Multiple teams with the best talent dispersed, constant lineup changes, and an identity that’s difficult to discern by me looking from an outside perspective, keep me from moving them any higher at this time.

Force It In

Roster: lTaranTisMl, DirtyCambo, WarGOD25, OverUnder23

Force It In continue to beat the lesser teams but fall short against the top tier squads. OverUnder23 has joined the squad as a sub. As a fellow super old vet of SARPBC it seems he could mesh well and maybe eventually join the starting roster.
