RLCPL - NA Open Qualifier Wrap-Up

8 years ago by RoguishElf in Esports

The stage was set, the players were ready, casters were prepared, and after about three hours of awesome action, we have the final eight teams that will be moving on to the Rocket League Central Pro League Qualifier.

Dragonfly was the #1 seed coming into the tournament. After a spectacular run through the early rounds, they qualified for the RLCPL Qualifier. But they didn't stop there. Dragonfly continued to show their unstoppable nature with wins over Fusion Corp Blue and Divine Entity, granting them a spot in the NA Open Qualifier finals.

Failure to Launch was not on a lot of people's radar coming in to this Open Qualifier. A team that has performed well in the past, they were looked at as a team that would qualify but probably not very high up. They surprised everyone. After qualifying for the RLCPL Qualifier, they took their momentum and rode it to this week's Finals with wins over FuzioN Gaming and Electric Zero.

Failure to Launch came out of the gates with a swift 2-0 lead over the #1 seed, Dragonfly. But Dragonfly would not let them win that easily. After some very good teamwork plays and excellent goals from Calamité, Dragonfly was able to turn it into a much closer game. Entering into game five, both teams were on edge. If nothing could make the series closer, both teams were stuck at 2 goals all the way until overtime. At the beginning of the overtime period in the fifth game of the Finals! Well, Genocop scored. It was relatively anti-climactic in relation to the rest of the series but it was a great final goal nonetheless.

Congratulations to Failure to Launch as they move into the next stage of the qualifiers as the #1 seed. Here is the final list of teams that qualified today and who they will be playing in next week's NA Pro League Qualifier.
