Weekly Round Up

It’s been a relatively quiet week for teams outside of league play. Some teams opting to take a week off ahead of the Vapour Nordic League finals, others perhaps needing to take a break.

For the teams in league play however it has been an eventful week, with the last week of Throwdown League Play going right down to the wire. The four teams going to PAX are JAM Gaming, Chiefs ESC, Pale Horse eSports and Scylla Esports, and they’ll face off next week to find out who goes to Washington DC for RLCS.

#1 Chiefs ESC: Jake / Drippay / Torsos / ENiGMA* | --

Given that we have the lovely Jake from Chiefs ranking and writing up this week, I figured I’d grab this bull by the horns and be proud to state that online, these boys are still the best in the region. Having a rather easy qualification for the Throwdown PAX finals we can look forward to seeing them on a true LAN stage once again and this could be the start of another long Chiefs reign if they’re successful. With a solid 3-0 over JAM in the final week, they were guaranteed qualification and as such the game against Scylla which was lost 3-2 was a small slipup. Coming back on the Monday they managed a solid 3-2 over JAM and and a 3-1 over Scylla, and can still be happily sitting at the top. - Nutterres

#2 Pale Horse eSports: Kamii / Kia / CJCJ / Julz* / xkorez* | --

Pale Horse have been getting better and better since Throwdown Season 3, where they came out of nowhere and weren’t bad. With their main roster being undefeated STILL against JAM with a 3-1 this week in ESL, it’s hard to not think these guys are gonna breeze into that sweet RLCS spot at PAX coming up. After getting smashed by Chiefs 3-2 in ESL 2 weeks ago though, CLEAR second, unlucky guys. - Jake

#3 JAM Gaming: shadey / Montyconnor / Express | --

It's been a rough week for JAM gaming, and with it came a unanimous ranking of 3rd. At ESL we saw them being taken down by Pale Horse (3-1) as well as Chiefs (3-2). This was furthered at Throwdown where they had first seed tightly within their grasp before they were thwarted another season by a Chiefs with a whopping 3-0 win surprising everyone with its magnitude. Thankfully, with a clean 3-0 against Legacy, they are still comfortably within our top 3 here at the PR as well as on their road to RLCS. - Courier

#4 Scylla Esports: Dumbo / Kira / Addzey / aoe_emp* / Daisu* | --

Scylla have done it again and have another crack at the dream. Sitting in a tumultuous position for the last week of Throwdown qualifiers they managed a sweep against Chiefs securing a big win and the final seed. At Throwdown they saw another 3-0 against Noizee isn't Toxic with some interesting meta choices showcased across the pitch. However at ESL they had less success; losing to Chiefs 3-1 but still managed to take the expected win against Square One (3-1). Now all eyes will be on them this fortnight to see if they can change history. - Courier

#5 Avant Gaming: ellusive / Cyrix / Siki / Requiem* | --

Avant have looked pretty deflated these past few weeks. Losing to Conspiracy 3-0 to make PAX near impossible seems to have really taken a hit to the team. This week they played Legacy twice, winning one of their series with their super sub Requiem and losing the other with their core. Requiem (better known as Billy), has really been showing up lately, carrying the team to their recent wins while their core is struggling to find any success. Keep an eye out for that boi. - Jake

#6 Conspiracy Esports: SlurpeeMonster / Hectic / Walcott / Triggsy* | --

The dark (not Pale) horses from the start of the Throwdown season managed to get within inches of a PAX qualification but were extremely unlucky, losing 3-0 to Pale Horse in their deciding game. As a team who don’t play many (if any) other competitions, I’m rather interested to see whether we start seeing movement from this team or whether they’ll stagnate and turn into a pile of dust, blown straight off the top 10. For the sake of both the organisation and the team, playing a few tournaments, getting the name around and trying to notch up a few more wins against top 4 opposition could be key. - Nutterres

#7 Legacy eSports: Soma / Plitz / ZeN / Penor* | --

It was a rough campaign for Legacy in this season’s Throwdown finishing in seventh position with a couple of wins under their belt, so suffice to say it’s time for these guys to focus on their ESL AU&NZ instead. Over the last few weeks Legacy have had a series of close matches with Avant and Conspiracy, and I’ve been unable to separate the three teams this week as a result, especially as they traded 3-2 blows with Avant this week. I expect the teams however to draw apart as the ESL league play comes to a close. - n0lsk1

#8 Lynx Gaming: Sammy / Blu3y / Delusion | --

Lynx Gaming have successfully picked up their first win in the ESL AUNZ Championship league play for this season with a 3-1 win over Square One. Sadly for this team it may also be the only win they pick up all season, as they remain the underdogs and are tipped to finish just slightly above Square One. Assuming they can pull out some strong performances this could lead to a slightly improved position on the Power Rankings but first they need to get past Chiefs unscathed. Whilst near impossible, it would be good to see a game or two picked up in the hopes of improvement. - Nutterres

#9 Sizzle Gaming: JCoffee / Seniaz / Zepsy | --

Sizzle had their entry into the PR come in fast and as they powered into the top 10. Now a couple of weeks after the smoke has cleared we are seeing them still sitting comfortably at a stable 9th place despite the lack of tournament play this week. With such a strong showing it's going to be interesting to follow Sizzle Gamings path as they begin to challenge the newly formed “Power 7” and try carve themselves their own spot amongst them. - Courier

#10 Noizee Isn't Toxic: Zest / Noizee / Outlast / Reggles | --

Hello darkness, my old friend, disbanding more teams once again… This time it’s in the form of Noizee Isn’t Toxic, a side who were scraped together from the start of Throwdown, played their game each week and essentially earned themselves a free $1000 between themselves. Unluckily this team would’ve known they weren’t lasting and I do look forward to seeing if any of these names become free agents, but being the last time they sit on the PR I should probably mention that they lost 0-3 to Scylla and have gone the entire season heavily defeated. All I can say now is best of luck to the individuals on their future endeavours and I hope to see them all back together some time. - Nutterres

Teams to watch:
